Re: The mathemathics of cone design

Thanks!

I managed to do it myself, with a method quite similar to that one, although I used a slightly more convoluted method to find the angle.

The mathemathics of cone design

I've been away from jets for a while due to other commitments, but now I'm back with a question I'm sure someone here can answer. My problem is that my pet rat Ambrose (The guys are all named after Mexican revolutionaries, due to their large whiskers. It was ither that or eighties porn stars or dict...

Re: How to build an electromagnet

What you need is not a directly driven relay. You need a switch transistor which can control a larger current, and which is just controlled by the small current. Then you can drive a relay off that.

Re: Fountain installations?

Just a quick follow up: I was unable to locate him, but in my search, I found several sites on the subject.

I'd suggest that anyone interested google for "laminar flow nozzle". There are also some videos on youtube on the subject.

Probably a cool project for next summer or so.

Re: Fountain installations?

Thanks! It was a while since he was here, but the fact that I remembered it proves what an impression his work made on me.

Fountain installations?

Several years ago, someone here posted some photos of a fountain installation he had made, using his own technology to create perfect, undisturbed jets of water. Well, now, I'm in a situation where I might want such an installation (depending on economical and technological requirements), but I can'...

Re: Linux glitches

If you fail to boot Linux, you might consider a reinstall. Now, before people start chucking chairs at me, let me explain: A reinstall in Windows is a big thing which is not done casually. You'll lose all software and settings, you'll have to find those pesky drivers and so on. Not so in Linux. What...

Re: Thermal Imaging

I've used an Olympus C2100UZ with an IR filter for taking IR images. It's extremely sensitive in the IR spectrum (it's considered by some to be the holy grail of cheap digital IR photography), so I can shoot handheld without trouble. However, it's still near IR, just outside the visible, and it's no...

Ouch, that looke really dangerous. What if one of the hoses cut out before the others? The car would drop on one side, and probably smash a fireman.

Still, it's cool!

My guess on the situation is that there are three probable scenarios: 1. Since the emergency transmitter is not working, he landed safely due to some technical error that also prevents the emergency transmitter from working. He is waiting for a ride home. 2. Suicide. The emergency transmitter was tu...

Let's hope he's just out in the wilderness somewhere with a technical problem, unhurt and waiting for a ride home, and that he'll be found soon.

Wikipedia has recent news, as well as information about his achievements:

My sister got a pair for her dogs when she met a cat owner and they tried to get get them to get along, as a cat can easily rake across the eyes of the dog. It turned out that the dog was scared of both the cat and the doggles, but eventually they got along and now they are the best buddies. He is s...
