re: Pulse jet silencer?

Thanks for the information, Jerry. I'd done research into military obfuscation devices prior to the 20th century. The army didn't have any projects related, North or South, in Lincoln's War. I recall a Tenney Industries (Metal Supplier) in New Jersey. Award of military contracts usually follow the a...

re: Pulse jet silencer?

A far cry from my great -grandfather's use of vulcanized raincoats and barrels of bacon introduced into the firebox to create smoke running the blockade. Found the following on the unit mentioned by Jerry. The M157A2 Smoke Generator Set (SGS) and M1059/M1059A3 Smoke Generator Carrier (SGC) produce l...

The following was in one of the newsletters I receive periodically. Development of simpler, low cost powerplants the objective.

Ken Moeller sent eMail regarding funding requirements for this site. I intend to kick into it.

re: Where can I find these chemicals locally?

You won't find anything on your shopping list that would be construed as "over the counter". Concentrated acids are regulated and the rest of the chemicals you mention don't have an "over the counter" market. Search for mail order providers of same, is my advise, and expect to have a strange vehicle...

Check out the heat/cool patterns near the open (far) ends of the "Tentacles". Their consistency in both size and placement shows the stability of the turbulence in this portion of the duct. It appears the fellow in the video is tossing something into the intake that makes the operation way more exci...

re: I need a lathe and a mill, cheap!

El- My advise is to find an old South Bend or Atlas lathe. $300-$500 for something you can use. Clausing (a division of Atlas) made some great little vertcal milling machines in the early '60's. I won't part with mine. Search the newspaper for tool sales and estate sales. You didn't mention a drill ...

re: Electronic fuel injection Help please

Hagent- You don't mention if the injectors are rail type or throttle body. Either type would require a return line to the fuel supply, whether you use a system pressurized by gas or a pump. I've used GM throttle body injectors (search the old forum, I believe the posts are still there regarding this...

re: Landing from free fall without a parachute !!!

Hello- Yes, the flare must be critical for a successful (no broken bones or ruptured organs) landing with the low aspact ratio that is probably inherent in the flight suit mentioned. Operation Zeppelin, the Third Reich attempt to infiltrate and sabatoge Soviet industry late in the war entailed dropp...

Right, Bruno- You get the "Boom" Trenchard award of the day. He was the fellow who made the statement about 1917 that "Real men don't wear parachutes."

re: Nomenclature: pulsejet vs ramjet (Was V1 Clone)

Hello- Yes, Larry, Hollywood has been known to stretch the facts a bit in order to awe the masses. A Century Series engine in afterburner sounds a bit more impressive then the Argus. I've been searching Steam lately. (That convective burner I ran in an article in your mag has developed.) For referen...

re: Nomenclature: pulsejet vs ramjet (Was V1 Clone)

If you can citation the source where you read this I'd appreciate it. Several sources, both printed text and visual media, recently, have done the same misnomer. They are two seperate engine types with different operating requirements.

Steve- You make no mention of stopping along the road to pick up an item your brain translates as having Pulse Jet Potential, or climbing into bins to retrieve same. Sounds like a mild case. TM-1131 is available from the NACA Technical Report Server. It can be printed out for constant, pedantic peru...

re: fit a ramjet to a model rocket?

Zip- For added efficiency to your C Class rocket dream without the complexity, try adding an augmentor (ejector). I've done so with four pieces of 16 gage wire and the tube from a roll of toilet paper. It flew with stability, though not attaining the altitude gotten by adding a 1/4" by 20" Balsawood...
