re: Can't get 'em to run.

Update........

I got one of the electric leaf-blowers from wal-mart last night and nearly had it running, but the bottle froze up and lost pressure. Will try again today as it's considerably warmer, but getting much closer.

re: Can't get 'em to run.

Well, at least it isn't scaled too far. If I went itty-bitty I could see it not running, but I oughta be at least close to the ball-park, right?

re: Can't get 'em to run.

Injectors are a radial spray with 12 holes .070 diameter. They are mounted on 3/8 brake line and sit about even with the welded seam where the first hemisphere is at it's largest diameter, and are centrally located. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/odaily/injectorside.jpg The exhaust cone is 3...

Can't get 'em to run.

My twin lockwood set-up just won't go for me. Both engines exhibit the same problems, they will run and sound just like the video clips I've seen, but only with lots of forced air (shop-vac) They will run stronger with more fuel up until the point where the sound becomes slightly more rough / uneven...

re: Tank keeps shutting down.

Dave, looks like I owe you an apology. The freshly altered and filled tank STILL wouldn't run. I had to look way down inside the hose fitting to see it does in fact have a flow limiter. If you look at it without putting your face right up to it, you can't even see it. So, that's gone now. Safety Not...

re: Tank keeps shutting down.

My rig is definitely without that in the hose attachment. It's straight thru all the way. Thanks though, somebody is gonna save themselves days of aggravation if they read that at the right time.

I should get the bottle filled tommorrow and test again this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes.

re: Tank keeps shutting down.

The local fillers won't touch an old style valve. But if you look the safety stuff just unscrews from the bottom of the valve. That top picture is an unused valve with fresh sealant / loctite on it. The other one is the one I pulled out of the tank. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/odaily/valv...

re: Tank keeps shutting down.

Do either of these look familiar? 1st pic ignore the really old non-safety valve. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/odaily/valveboth.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/odaily/othervalve.jpg The first one with the white plastic peice is a brand-new unit from the local co-op. re: Tank keeps shutting down.

Damn. Ok, will tear a bottle down and see if I can work through the neutering technique. Of course then I gotta re-purge the air, etc, etc.

Tank keeps shutting down.

I'm trying to get my engines to run and I keep losing the flow of propane from my 20lb tank. If the valve is opened slowly it will increase flow to a point, at which it will make a slight "click" noise and the flow is cut off until the valve is shut off and re-opened. What gives? Tanks is blue-rhino...

re: Started welding up my first Lockwood

I decided to go ahead and mount both engines as it'll allow me to work with them a little easier. I added a spark plug near the exhaust end of both combustion chambers and I'm powering them with a neon sign transformer. I ditched the regulator. I get good sized flames, a couple loud bangs and hard p...

re: Started welding up my first Lockwood

I tried sparklers in the combustion chamber without success. Either I get a big billowy yellow flame or I push the fire out into the exhaust with the shop vac. I'm outa sparklers for now, and the regulator was just quick and dirty to see if it'd run before I lost the daylight. I think I may make a m...

re: Started welding up my first Lockwood

I finally got my 6" exhaust pipe in and got it trued up and welded in. So........ I mounted it in a vice and tried to see what it'd do. With a little carb cleaner I could produce some bangs, some of which kind of double or triple banged. Then I tried putting my lit running bernzomatic propane torch ...
