re: Jet Kart First Road Test

Thanks for all the replies. I guess I will explain the eninge a little further. I used the plans from the Lockwood Hiller pattent with some modification I picked up from building a couple other jets. The enigne is running on liquid propane and the coil is a preheater vaporizing the propane as it get...

Jet Kart First Road Test

I finally got my new engine on a new go kart and ran some trials. I have been trying to get some more accurate statistics on this kart so I installed a bicycle computer to keep track of top speed and distance. I have been having problems with my rear axel shifting to the side and misaligning my brak...

re: RC project

I did play around with the water injection for a while. I found one good spot right inside of the inlet, but also it pumped well way down by the bend in the inlet. I found it a little difficult to tell the spot with the most water flow and least flow out the inlet, but I am just going to try what lo...

re: RC project

I am in a hurry, but I thought I would post a quick video of the progress. I traded pontoons for tires, but I am still not getting a full thrust setting out of small tanks. I’m not giving up just yet though.

re: RC project

So I got the engine running on a single mini tank. It ideals fine, but I can't get much thrust out of it. Last night I tried again with two tanks, and did get a little higher power setting, but still not full juice. I tried inverting on of the little tanks with shaky results. The engine would really...

RC project

Here is a sneak peak at my RC boat project. The engine is running well, and I have good control of the needle valve using an RC servo. I just need to try it on the small propane tanks and integrate it all onto the boat.

re: Advanced FWE Help

Here's a video of my FWE running in the dark. I had to realy reduce the quality to get the video to fit, but you get the idea.
Eric, send me a message if you want me to send you the full video with day and night runs or pictures.

[Quote] Can I put some of the pictures of it up on my Adv FWE download page?

Sure! I should have better pictures and maybe a video soon though if you want to wait. I also have plans on making this engine Radio Controled in the near future. I will keep you posted. Thanks again

re: Advanced FWE Help

I finally got the engine to run! I guess it was the spark. I could here the plug sparking, but the gap was very small. I made the gap large with a screw driver and the engine starting popping. After about three minutes of popping I finally got it to sing. Though the engine only sustained for about a...

re: Advanced FWE Help

The hole time I was trying to start the engine I only got three pops from it. They were not in a row, and usually when I was removing air. I understand this means I was giving it too much, but even once I was conscious of this I still had problems.

Advanced FWE Help

I have built one of the Beck Technologies Advanced FWE and have had some problems starting it. My other two engines have both been 50+ lbs, so I am not used to these little guys. I could really use some suggestion for starting this one. Do I need allot of vapor fuel, allot or little air? Would I be ...

Another happy hobbiest

I finished my second Lockwood engine. I had much better tools this time and I am thrilled with the results.
The engine started instantly. I got my blower close to the inlet and it roared to life. The “Afterâ€

re: Cone Rolling

Thanks for revisiting the ancient art of cone rolling. I was finally successful in rolling my cones with a simple tube roller. One of my biggest problems is that I am using thick stainless steel (about .060"). I am pretty sure this is overkill, but it is what I had. I found the hard way that the mor...

Cone Rolling

I am building a new smaller Lockwood and I am having troubles with my new facilities. I am rolling the tail pipe in two 21 inch sections. The roller has two rolls that feed the material onto the third roller. I can not seem to get the steel to follow the proper radius. I have tried tightening one si...
