Re: dynamic modeling of a strip valve

I would really like to read through this thread in its entirety, but without the pictures and diagrams I am lost. Does anyone have these to share?

Metal Fume Fever

Hello all, I have not participated in this forum for a long time as I have been pursuing other hobbies (blacksmithing). I have a video of one of my pulse jets on You Tube and get many comments on it daily. Just moments ago I got a video response from some one that is selling a home built Lockwood ty...

I know I haven't been here in a long time. I've been too busy to continue my pulse jet experiments. If anyones interested, I am selling my large pulse jet and go-kart on e-bay. Thanks. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=017&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=270142332073&rd=1&r...

Larry, my favorite part is the sweatervest! But besides that the rest looks great. Do you think there are any large restrictions on top speed concerning the intake design?

Sorry Canadian, you haven't seen any pulse jets out of aluminum because they will melt, plain and simple. Stick with regular steel for a prototype engine and then build it out of Stainless. The stainless will polish up real nice for you.

Nice work Larry. I have wanted to test this type of augmenter for a while, but never got around to it. I am just wondering how well it would work on a valveless engine. This will increase the airflow at the lip of the exhaust, hopefully supplying a stronger breath of fresh air during the intake phas...

Canadian, I just thought I'd put my 2 cents in again. Do not waste your time making a pulse jet out of copper or brass. Use mild steel or stainless, they will hold up a lot better. You should be aware that breathing brass fumes is very unhealthy to begin with whether it's when you are welding it or ...

An engine that small is not as forgiving with construction defects. You'll want to remove any burrs from inside the intake, make sure your intake flare is optimal and make sure there are no leaks in the engine. You'd be surprised as to what can make or break your engine from not running.

Sort of... Get a BBQ tank and regulator. Take the regulator part off of the line (all you need is the adapter to connect to the tank) and get some pipe fittings to fill up it's place and that will adapt to a copper line (or whatever you want to use to run to the engine's injector). (the regulator is...

You might not be getting enough fuel. If you are just using a small propane bottle by taking the nozzle off the burner and sticking on a rubber hose, you will never get enough fuel out of that. The orface of the burner is much too small to feed a decent size engine. Also remember that when you use a...

Canadian, Looks like a decent first build. My first running Pulse Jet was made by using a spare reed cage I had for my old dirt bike, but I modified it to use .006" spring steel reeds. First I would suggest installing a spark plug and igniting inside the cumbustion chamber. An alternative I use freq...
