Re: Annual JET FEST proposal
I'd be interested in coming along, but I doubt I'll have anything to bring and run for a few years as I'm about to start work in London... unless of course there is a go-kart worthy track and I'll get it out of storage - I built to thing and have never found anywhere to run it!

How to use tools.
Hi, I have just stumbled across this; http://techtv.mit.edu/collections/ehs-videos/videos They are instructional videos teaching MIT students how to use the machine shop. There are some great tips and tricks in there for people like me who have had no instruction. I didnt even know what a wheel-dres...

Re: Arc/Tig to plasma cutter.
Cheers,
After looking at that video I went back to google and found my thinking was more along the lines of an 'air-arc cutter', which seems more do-able. Air-carbon-arc looks interesting, although doesn't seem to be used much. I can find carbon rods on ebay, but not much else.

Arc/Tig to plasma cutter.
Hey. A couple of years ago I bought the cheapest arc welder I could find with a TIG attachment. It has served me well, but now I'd like a plasma cutter... From what I've read, a plasma cutter basically involves striking an arc, then blasting an inert gas (or just air) at it to remove the molten meta...

Re: Sorry the forum has been down!
Its a little late, but I'd suggest sticking a 'we have moved' page on the /phpbb2/index.php page. I doubt I'm the only person to have given links to people, or bookmarked pages that no longer exist...

Kart & possible heat problems.
Hi, I designed a kart a while ago, and have just got round to mounting the engine. [Refer to image] I planned to shield the 180 bend with something (possibly stainless or aluminium or both) to help keep the heat away from the driver and fuel, but having mounted it, I am unsure if this will be enough...

If you have a regulator already, take it off the tank and chances are, it will look like the image I have attached. The screwey bit on the left (i didnt mean nut, i know what i meant hehe) threads into the tank valve. The nozzle bit on the right is what you connect the hose to. The big round flow-re...

I'm not sure of all the techy words, i generally just go into shops and say "i need one of these" or think "that looks roughly what I want, does it fit, yes, buy it" Having made a large-ish lockwood in the UK I can help you a tiny bit. With regards to the propane tank end of your setup, you probably...

If you are changing the overall site, it would be really great if you could do away with the frames used around the site to separate the navigation from the main page. The easiest way would be to include it at the top of each page, a simple bit of PHP could be used to do that (<?php include("navigat...

Yes, you will always end up with a multiple of 9, all of which have the same symbol. 11 - 1+1 = 9 29 - 2+9 = 18 37 - 3+7 = 27 etc. They will always 'home in' as increasing the original number by one for example, (i.e. 64 instead of 63), will increase the number you are taking away by 1 (6+4=10 inste...
