combustion chamber

My turbine is still not running. I was wandering about the combustion chamber size. I'v herd some different (and confusing) stuff from different people, but i think i'v just about got it sorted out now. Her's my plan: The small pipes are standart car exhaust pipe, and the combustion chamber itself i...

Re: My pulsejet (pics)

the valve grid is not made yet, and i didnt really use any plans. I started out with 45mm car exhaust piping, and then worked out what combustion chamber piping i'll need on the pulse jet calculator. It should hopefully work...

Re: flame holder

oh...right. Really? I never knew that. So i have to change my design abit. Man....this thing is gonna be massive. Umm...another little thing. if the outer combustion chamber is 1 inch bigger than the flame holder, does all piping in the engine, right from compressor to the exhaust turbine, have to b...

flame holder

My turbine is going well, appart from the flamehlder. Basically, the weld seams are not too tidy, and sort of stick out inside abit where two pipes are joined. This makes picking a decent flameholder tube abit difficult. I was wandering, can some of you pros give me a rough idea of what dia flame ho...

jam jar jets? snorkles?

I'v seen a few references to jamjar engines and "snorkles".

I was wandering, what they are and how they work? (and what they do?)

The idea of a jet made out of a jam jar is pretty interesting. Does anyone have any idea how theyre made?

My pulsejet (pics)

I finally made up most of my pulsejet. it's made of 80mm and 45mm mild steel pipe.

The combustion chamber cone was the most difficult bit, so i just decided to weld lots of metal strips between the two pipes. Seems to ahve worked ok.

pulsejet Q's

My welder broke the other day, so i sent it back, so i'm stuck with a half built turbine and abit of pulsjet for about a week. Perfect time to design the bits that i havnt made yet. Does the intake have to have a venturi-shaped bit on it? because it seems like thats only there to help draw fuel in.....

pulsejet sizes

Ok...first of all i'd like to thank you all for all the help youve given me allredy with several of my projects. I still havnt found the right size connectors to connect my oil pump to my jet engine, so i thought why not build a pulse jet while looking for parts for the turbo jet... Basically, i wan...

abit of a problem...

This is getting "funny". Basically, my mig suddenly started going wrong for no reason. the gas valve is leaking, and the wire control is not working. It allways feeds out wire at full speed, even if you tyrun the dial to low....bugger! Still, an engeneer from the welders maker company sent me his ph...

exhaust cone

Ok...Thanks. that program is great! Now i know how many holes i need and what size! Umm...this is going REALLY well. i have all the piping, the ignition system, and even the oil pump! All i need now is a motor to power the oil pump, a few metal bits (i can get them on monday) and a leafblower. Will ...

xy?

I'm not too skilled at using one of these things yet, but as far as i understand, thers a function calle XY, which when instead of having two lines, each going up and donw with voltage increase, it has one single line. The voltage applied to X causes it to go up down (i think) and the voltage applie...

it seems to work

Umm...i'v never used an oscilloscope, but this one seems abit strange. At first when you switch it on nothing happens, but then after a while one trace comes up. then after another while the other trace starts working. After that it works a treat! I think it can be put down to two factors: 1) the tu...

Oscilloscope?

As the day of my turbines maiden run draws closer, ai'v decided to start gathering the stuff neseserry to run it. I,v got an ingnition system, and i will have an oil pump soon. My only problem is finding out the revs. i don't have a freq counter, and really don't have too much hope of getting one so...
