Re: ScrapQueen's turbocharger jet
I still haven't worked on this for a while. Landed a welding gig at a factory. Pay is great but I don't have time to come in to the college to work yet. The plant supervisors toured the welding lab and my professor took them to see my turbine. They asked me to show them at work and I played my video...

Re: ScrapQueen's turbocharger jet
SO! After several attempts the propane tube for the afterburner does not work. My next plan is to add a kerosene feed to the combustion chamber and afterburner. The idea is I'm going to start the engine on propane then switch to kerosene, as I feel like that would get me more power. Then I can injec...

Re: ScrapQueen's turbocharger jet
I've started working on an afterburner. I was chatting with a guy online who says he trained F-15 mechanics and we worked through what it would need. I think I got the gist. Its incomplete. I ran out of time in the shop yesterday. https://i.imgur.com/kAybn4b.jpg https://i.imgur.com/32Vr8dL.jpg https...

Re: ScrapQueen's turbocharger jet
IT. LIVES! We had a couple back fires and false starts but once we all figured out where it starts it was easy to get running. Heres my vertical video since I was too excited to think. Ill need to round up the rest of my professors for their videos. Not gonna lie I cried when it started up lmao. htt...

Re: ScrapQueen's turbocharger jet
Righto! So class has been back for a bit and I've gotten it all wired up and piped. I just test fired it today but could not get it up to speed due to pump gremlins. And leaks. Oh boy the leaks. https://i.imgur.com/OBZtKHT.jpg https://i.imgur.com/PQLGEyS.jpg My professors came to be my lab assistant...

Re: ScrapQueen's turbocharger jet
Well heres the last of my progress until the next semester of school starts. I've got the oil system almost done. The return line is installed as well as the bypass. I just need to install the radiator for the oil, pipe that from the pump then to the oil filter. I worked with the HVAC/plumbing profe...

ScrapQueen's turbocharger jet
Hiya, im on my antics still! Since I was a kid I wanted to build a turbine, and here I am. For the last month and a half I've been working on a self imposed final project in welding class. Making a turbo jet out of a no-name t3t4 turbo. I think the math is right, the flame tube seems to function on ...

Possible to convert valveless to valved?
I've got a hankering for a valved engine. I've been wondering if I could convert my Pyro Joe's engine to reeds. I saw the thread on external valve grids with the 4 petal Reed that looked very interesting. I saw a Chinese style in that thread with an added on valve which sparked my interest. I'm tryi...

Re: Scrap Queen's first foray into valveless pulse jets
Tried starting this little baby engine today. It didn't even go, it made a couple pops but not even a growl. I think the 1/4" tubing is too big for the .75" intake. Maybe that and its 30f today. Maybe different fuel than propane even.

Re: Scrap Queen's first foray into valveless pulse jets
Sadly I think an augmenter is out of my scope for now. I did however build a cute little one thats half the scale of what I've been making. Id like to put this one on something like a RC ice sled. https://i.imgur.com/EQGiIwi.jpg I think my professor would really rather have me do my assignments inst...

Re: Scrap Queen's first foray into valveless pulse jets
I think I understand the equation. I just tend to learn more with pretty pictures. Sadly that post is showing me I don't have permission to view that attachment. I hope that attachment hasn't been lost to the sands of time. I have a few hours to kill before the weld shop opens so I'm trying to come ...

Re: Scrap Queen's first foray into valveless pulse jets
I ran it again with a full tank and WOW!!!! it went cherry red this time. It might have mildly slightly set the wood on fire once. Ill be making a raised mount in my weld shop tomorrow so that doesn't happen again. I seriously underestimated the full power of this thing. Here's it starting up and an...

Re: Scrap Queen's first foray into valveless pulse jets
My propane tank is nearly empty from all the past attempts. I'll get a refill tomorrow. I was able to fully open the valve without it blowing out! Standing behind the exhaust was a real punch to the chest. Im so freaking happy it runs!!
