Re: Tips for starting a big Lockwood hiller.

It won't let me upload the video right now, but we finally got it close using a real roscojector. The only thing is it pulses like once a second without air and kinda sounds like a whale calling once per second. When you finally give it a little blast of air, it will sound like it's starting for a s...

Re: Tips for starting a big Lockwood hiller.

Thanks for the quick replies! No our tank does not have any kind of restrictor to my knowledge. We tried a version of the roscojector utilizing the hole we already had drilled using .5 inch copper tube. Slightly better results, but still not really pulsing. We got some smaller copper tubing(not sure...

Tips for starting a big Lockwood hiller.

Me and a friend recently built this 55lb jet. http://www.pulse-jets.com/phpbb3/download/file.php?id=11410&mode=view Every thing is welded up and we are at the starting stage, but all we can get is a wooshing sound as fire shoots out the exhaust. It almost seems like ignition is occurring outside of ...

Re: Help finding lockwood-h jet plans!!!

So the plans I have say +/- 1/16 inch, and everyone talks about how finicky pulse jets are about inside diameter, but then when I read on other parts of the forum about hand forming, everyone says they use the "beat the crap out of it" method until it's roughly a cone. If the inside dimensions were ...

Re: Help finding lockwood-h jet plans!!!

Thanks for all they help guys. We have started building the 55 lb engine recommended earlier. Were ready to cut and roll all of our pieces, but we are stuck on the u bend. In the plans it says the u bend is 3 inch id all the way around, and the exhaust cone minor opening is 3inch Id also. The only ...

Re: Help finding lockwood-h jet plans!!!

Thanks I already had that plan saved I just never knew it was a 55 lb engine. When cutting the pieces to roll you would do pi•d (pi times the given diameter) to get the circumference. Do I need to add the double of the material thickness to the circumference to get the final edge for the piece? The ...

Re: Please put your "I am new and need help" question here.

Thanks for the reply! I had looked through the "looking for plans" section of the forum, however the majority of the links wouldn't open. In the link for the Lockwood jet you put above, are the measurements in metric? I'm in the us and use customary inches. Converting is no problem I just didn't see...

Re: Please put your "I am new and need help" question here.

Hello I am looking to make a pulse jet to put on a bike or small riding kart as a project for a school fair. I am looking for dimensions/plans for a Lockwood-hiller style valvless pulse jet with enough thrust to get our bike or kart moving. Obviously the more thrust the happier we will be, but we st...
