Interpreting Westberg's Comments on Intake Size

I read Fredrick Westberg's Essay on Pulsejets and am having trouble understanding some of his broken English. Can anybody help point me towards a more comprehensive source for information on intake size to tailpipe size ratios? I'm specifically trying to figure out how much area should be open to in...

Re: Metal Spinning Viable Construction Method?

I was planning on strapping an array of 4-5 medium sized jets on my jonboat, and I have the lathe and not the welder, so that's why the idea came to me. I guess it's not really any advantage, just an option for folks who want to try some more complex parabolic flares and such.

Metal Spinning Viable Construction Method?

Are any of you familiar with metal spinning on a lathe-like machine? Here's a video for those of you who are curious about the method https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43N44ICyuEU I was just thinking this could be an easier method for making cones and chamber flares without having to create a template...

Re: No Moving Parts, 1-Way Valve

Ok, I read the article mentioning these baffled methods. I am not surprised that the figure showing the valvular conduit failed. It is far too large a diameter to effectively impede blowback. As I mentioned, the conduits function best at smaller scales and higher pressures. It does not appear that a...

Re: No Moving Parts, 1-Way Valve

Thanks for the information. Sorry to waste space on the board. As for my personal boat, I'm not too worried about the valves wearing. My friend works for a cnc shop, so I'm sure he could cut a whole roll of springsteel for me.

No Moving Parts, 1-Way Valve

Hello Pulseheads, I'm just starting to learn about pulsejets, and hope to build a small array this winter for eventual mounting on my small boat. I'll likely use some plans for a reed valve engine, but I was thinking about ways to modify common designs. I read about the failures of rotary valve engi...

Re: Rotary valves do not work.

The benefits of a rotary valve would be to reduce valve wear as seen in other designs, no? Why not use the only one-way valve with no moving parts? Tesla's valvular conduit?
