Contact info for Irvine.J - James Irvine?

Hello all, I have just built my first pulsejet after deciding the one I got off ebay was total crap. I have been doing everything I can to get in touch with James Irvine for advice re pulsejets. I will be moving to his neck of the woods in a few months and was hoping to pay him for some pulsejet con...

Re: successful HPX plan

Have you tested the amount of thrust?
I am very interested to compare our engines, I made a FWE that is a very similar size.

Re: Flight weight FWE pulsejet build

I really like that HPX style in your drawing. Looks like I could convert mine to that style very easily. Do you expect an increase in thrust using hpx type? What are the benefits? Are there pros/cons between our two engines? I am looking into a pressurized liquid system, how much pressure did you use?

Flight weight FWE pulsejet build

Made from .5mm stainless steel. Trying to keep it under 2 pounds, hopefully it will put out around 5 pounds thrust, even more with liquid fueling. This thickness is very hard to TIG weld, you tend to burn through it. I actually turn the power VERY high, like 100 amps and hold a very sharpened electr...

Re: minimal thickness for pulsejet walls?

Anyone have suggestions on MIG techniques for welding .5mm or 24 gauge steel sheet? I know it can be done just not easily.

minimal thickness for pulsejet walls?

What is the most minimal thickness you can make pulsejets out of for lightweight applications?

Ill pay for you to build me a pulsejet

I bought a thermojet from ebay, it was total shit. Spotwelds every half inch or so leaving the whole thing leaking like crazy. I figure now would be a good time to see if someone could build me a pulsejet for my needs. Its going on a large RC glider and will be started on propane vapor and run on li...

Thermojet J3-200, ~4lb thrust, augmentor worth it?

I got this thermojet to eventually add to a large RC glider. Some people say that a thrust augmentor adds more drag than it does increased power. Do you think in this small size it would be worth it?

Have any of you guys tried it? What would be the expected thrust increase?

Re: Synchronous Injection

I just ordered a thermojet off ebay. When I priced out my metal stock for making one I realized it was like 70$ in materials not counting cutting and welding. Found a thermojet j3-200 on ebay for 99$. I have electronics and machining capabilities and am very willing to work on one of these injectors.

Re: Synchronous Injection

http://arc.uta.edu/research/fluidic.htm - interesting paper on the subject

I really do think that the best way to do this is to aucostically couple a valve or use a piezoelectric actuator near the fuel source.

Re: Please put your "I am new and need help" question here.

Interesting. So you think it would be safe to go from 28" to 20" so I could use a standard peice of tubing? How steadfast is the odd multiple rule for the intake?

Re: Please put your "I am new and need help" question here.

Can you guys tell me what you think of my thermojet measurements?

1.5" ID tailpipe/28" long
3" ID chamber/6" long
2x inputs, ID .92"/4" long

Someone mentioned i could signifigantly shorten my tailpipe, but it does not match with pyrojoes calibar method. Any advice?

Re: Synchronous Injection

Maybe a simple valve could be acostically coupled to the pulsejet body? This would be a very rapid moving valve, must use a low mass design. Otherwise you could use a microcontroller with an audio pickup and have it automatically adjust a solenoid duty cycle to match up with the frequency of the pul...
