Re: "Pulsejet Heater" plans on ebay

Hi All,

I think its valved. Do a Google image search for 'Lennox Pulse Furnace'. Lots of good photos, some of which are of the 'Air Flapper & Gasket' which is sold as a service part. It looks very like a simple pulse jet valve a'la the type seen in model airplanes.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Re: valve casting

Hi Mike, I'm well. Suffering from raging poverty but other than that I'm fine. I'm most proud of the wax master & RTV mould in this post http://www.pulse-jets.com/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6534#p75600 That was real tough. The casting bit has had its moments but the master took months of experimenta...

valve casting

Hi All, I have abandoned my original idea and modded it a bit. I was going for a dual one piece matchplate pattern but that was too ambitious. I made a matchplate sure enough but with individual elements. http://www.wilsonlogan.com/valve-casting.htm So... another 4 to cast and a valve carrier assemb...

Re: Identify the mystery object

Hi Mark, Thanks, I had forgotten about that. Mr. Metiz, the metal will be aluminium. The length is about 100mm (4 inches). I'm aiming for a jet big enough to power a bike or cart, say 50 - 75lbs thrust. The idea is very much along the lines of a Solarjet. I will be making a valve holder to hold the ...

Re: Identify the mystery object

Nice Mr. Metiz! Almost absolutely correct. Its a pattern, not a mould. But I'll accept that that's what you meant. Your prize is the first set of valves to come from this pattern. Its actually a master pattern. An RTV daughter is cast and then a resin copy & that is what is used to make the sand mou...

Identify the mystery object

Hi All,

I have been busy recently (see attachment).

The first person to correctly identify the object will win a prize related to the object itself.

Cheers,

Wilson.

Re: Horde of Aerospace materials quick sale

Hi All,

Well, a bit of a reprieve seems to be underway. My friend can't get a price he likes for the scrap so it may all be available for a while longer.

However, until he gets a price, I don't know how to price what I have set aside.

Watch this space...

Cheers,

Wilson.

Horde of Aerospace materials quick sale

Hi All, Probably only of interest to UK based folk.... My friend has approx 750kg of aerospace alloys (nickel & titanium) and turbine parts retained for QA purposes which are now to be disposed of. I didn't get as long a look as I would have liked but I did see bar stock, fasteners and some huge tur...

Re: Valve carriers

Woah... deafened by the response.... not. I take it no one has a 6 inch PJ ? What do you think would be more sensible, size wise? 4 inches? I just went for 6 inches as I had envisaged the use of such a jet on bikes and carts and I think less than 6 inches is going to be a waste of time from a thrust...

Valve carriers

Hi All, I am currently making a pattern to cast valve carriers for a 6" size PJ. They wil be modelled after the Solarjet/Argus valve carriers. I can make the carriers and maybe valves but will not have time to proceed much further. Does anyone want to collaborate on this? I'd say that a pre-requisit...

Re: PULSE 3

I agree with Grim. Now that you've fixed the tail pipe issue the valves themselves appear to be suspect. They do appear about twice as long as one would expect. I think with a redesign of the valves & valve plate you can make this work. Have a look at the pics below of a valve carrier I cast. The he...

OT: Tesla Turbines

Hi All, I've been trying to design a Tesla Turbine that can be made, on the cheap, with limited tools for the purpose of fun and serious experimentation. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=5ujnj3GwEUI http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=eh7CjvB_C8Y The turbine is designed to be buildable by the amateur. Many o...

Re: Robert Maddox

Hi Mike, I am currently working on a set of 4 inch valve holders suitable for a 6 inch diam pulse jet. In the picture you can see my first cast valve holder which is about 9" and is for a 12" engine. One of my friends has offered the use of a programmable turret press so I may try and make these val...

Re: Robert Maddox

Hi Mike, Well, I've totally changed jobs. I was an IT consultant and now I make pipeline inspection cameras in a small industrial unit. Not as profitable as the old job but way more satisfying. This jet of Mr. Maddox's has intrigued me. As you may remember I started down the path of a Solarjet type ...
