Ok I'll do that next. I also need different valve for my propane tank as it has now regulator type.. It cannot feed enough gas to this engine.ganuganu wrote:use the long tube through CC with multiple holes. That will supply enough fuel to the engine.

Re: working on with new lockwood
Oh shit, be carefull with that. One mistake and you're dead with a flyback. You may want to consider a safer alternative It wont kill, puts out only 1 milliamp current (lethal current is around 15-20mA). Btw, I'm very experienced about high voltage technology anyway.. :) Thats what I call lethal: h...

Re: working on with new lockwood
The noise from the engine is low so i think you need to make some changes to get it going good. Yes, indeed. This is first version. I need to tweak propane injector etc, flared exhaust. Edit: here is my spark generator http://oi40.tinypic.com/28tc1ld.jpg it is simple NE555 based oscillator, driving...

Re: Please put your "I am new and need help" question here.
I have seen lockwood designs of two types, one having larger diameter intake and some others has smaller diameter compared to the first section of exhaust. My lockwood has intake diameter of 3" and exhaust is 2.5" in the beginning and enlarged to 3" rest of it. I will make it conical anyway sooner ...

Re: working on with new lockwood *pic and vid added*
first version is now ready and we made some test runs. It is not easy to start, requires lots of gas to get it started. Not running smoothly..it is a bit erratic and unstable. Throttle range is quite narrow..dont know why? bad construction mistakes I think.. :) Fuel supply is 11kg propane bottle. I ...

working on with new lockwood
Ok I got some steel tubes for my new lockwood. I have 2.5" tube, 2 x 2.5" 90 deg bends, 3" tube and for combustion chamber, inner diam. is 170mm / 6.7 inch. So I was thinking to use that 3" for intake and 2.5" for first part of exhaust, rest of it will be conical anyway, after U-bend. But I have a p...

Re: new member introduction, also can i get opinion on ignition
For finetuning, how about telescopic intake tube? Would be very easy to find out which is the best length for intake to get maximum thrust.

Lockwood 180 first run
Yes, it did run at first try and started quite easily. Runs amazingly stable..couldn't get full throttle tho, small propane tank was freezing.

Re: New here, first pulsejet in progress
I think I need to make a bigger one.
I'm going to install it on kicksled. My goal is to reach 60-70km/h speed on ice road.. I think at least 50lbs of thrust is required for that.
So maybe thunderchine or similar.. maybe thermalpulse 180 / 70lbs.

Re: gas turbine as heater system for a hall
2" inducer (compressor wheel), is that really its outer diameter? It is very tiny turbo charger then :) Well, at least those small ones are easily available here. Jetspecs turbojet design software says it should be giving 58 lbs thrust, thats pretty much for such a small turbo charger jet engine. Ye...

Re: gas turbine as heater system for a hall
Thank you for information. So I need to find relatively small turbo charger then. Next step is to design optimum combustion chamber/flame tube. I think 100mm outer tube and 65mm inner tube (flame holder) will be ok, lenght might be around 300mm. Not sure about that, but I think its ok? I know, harde...

Re: New here, first pulsejet in progress
Excellent work 8) It's pretty cool that we both built new unknown engines and they both fired up easily! Such a great source of info this place is. Is it possible you could put some pics on here? And could you host your video on YouTube? I have no computer so Iam having to do all my internet stuff ...

Re: New here, first pulsejet in progress
Ok, i did first run and it really did run right away! http://tonskulus.kuvat.fi/kuvat/sekalaiset/20111216_002.mp4 But its not quite loud, I can easily be there without ear protection. Im not sure why, maybe my gas line is destricting the power..? I opened up my propane tank to full power but it is j...
