Re: More free plans: 40 pound Chinese
We don't see how we are gonna get more fuel. There are excess flow valves inside the propane tanks ( propane tanks made in the last 12 years) that if you have a large pressure differential will shut off the flow to next to nothing. The weed burners allow the pressure differential to occur way beyond...

Re: More free plans: 40 pound Chinese
Hey Metiz, We attempted a test again today with little luck. We got some burps but no long lived independent pulsing. Here is a link to our best run so far: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kn4Y0A8o00A&feature=plcp&context=C477f314VDvjVQa1PpcFMnHwvGCZ6CrVW6X5MlItz-KdSOS-rUsfs%3D I will be posting addi...

Re: More free plans: 40 pound Chinese
We did try sparklers but still no dice. We did have a solenoid valve on the line after the two tanks come together which could limit our flow. We are using Propane, two 20-lb tanks. We will try to get the video to you soon.

Re: More free plans: 40 pound Chinese
Hello again Metiz, Will get photos to you guys soon. We tested today but ran into some problems. We just couldn't get her to pulse. We got ignition and some flame out but no dice on it actually running on its own. We figure part of our problem is ignition source. We are using an electric fence charg...

Re: More free plans: 40 pound Chinese
Hey Metiz, We currently have the 40 pound chinese pulse jet completed. We are just wondering more details about your fuel system. I know what size tanks you are using and that one is for gas and the other for liquid propane (flipped upside down). I know that they are connected in parallel which spli...

Metiz, did your second engine use 47 mm intakes or 50mm?

Re: More free plans: 40 pound Chinese
Why a shorter combustion chamber and convex cap on the current design? Quite a bit different from the original design on page 1.

Re: Engineering Senior Design Project 2011
Good advice on the tubing inconsistencies, we’ll be checking that out for sure. As for the pressure, we’re looking for a transducer that is fast enough to measure the cycle. We’ll be measuring a few areas for pressure. Still deciding where the areas are going to be. The only load cells we have at sc...

Re: Engineering Senior Design Project 2011
One of our constraints with this design is that we specified a 25 pound thrust engine or better in our proposal to the school. I should have mentioned that earlier. We're planning on having an engine built by Christmas, and the next semester will consist of running and instrumenting the engine. As f...

Engineering Senior Design Project 2011
We’re working on a mechanical engineering senior design project. Our plan is to build a valveless pulsejet, get it running, instrument and measure it, and then improve it. Been browsing the forum and we’re looking at Lockwoods and the 40lb Chinese engine. Something that’s easy to get going would hel...
