Re: Engine for Model Boat

I'm going to prioritize the valved engine I've started, If it doesn't work though the M25 sounds nice.
Now Whats better, injection of fuel into the intake or into combustion chamber?
And on a side note, does anyone know where the thread about injecting water is?

Re: Engine for Model Boat

@kevin lee: Nah, post sounded fine to me :) plus it helped me find the info on the M25 @both: I"ll search for the thread, this Idea is brilliant especially considering it'll be on a hydroplane. Other questions still, would welding seams be any detriment to the engine(like on the inside)? and what ga...

Re: Engine for Model Boat

Nice! But, I was originally asking in the OP whether anyone knew of any valved designs that were around 35" in length and produced 20-25 lbf of thrust I used the calculator on the front page and have used those dimensions, and need to know also how to build the intake on a highly efficient petal val...

Re: Engine for Model Boat

Any other input?

New questions, what would be the fuel consumption of this thing?
and how do I make the intake?

Re: Engine for Model Boat

Great to know, I'll look for some M25 plans I really need something a little shorter near 889mm, so valved is probably the only way to find one so short. I just used the Pulse jet calculator from the download page and found that 22lbf = approximately a 35 inch pulsejet is this calculator at all accu...

Re: Engine for Model Boat

are there any other engines of this size which have a little more "Oomph" like around 25 lbf?

Engine for Model Boat

I'm building a model of the Bluebird K7 in my Drafting class. I've been left to the propulsion. I need to build the most powerful pulse jet possible to fit into 35" in length. This engine also has to be relatively easy to make without the need of complex CNC mills.
Can anyone help?

Re: Big engine, need a reliable design

So I'm having an exceptionally hard time modeling the argus valves and figuring how many I need
For a engine 5/8 the size of the engine you described what would the intake area be and how would I find the # of valves to use and the size of each valves?

Re: Big engine, need a reliable design

okay, So my advisor chickened out, so I scaled the engine down by 5/8 and we're building only one to go on a small cart frame and drive up and down our road

So considering this, how many argus type valves should I use and how do you make argus type valves?

Re: Big engine, need a reliable design

Well I'd like to have the greatest range for the engine possible and make it easy to start, so idling near 20% would be great, I'd like to build 2 engines, each at 220 lb thrust capability. We are planning on bending our own frame and modifying the dragster designs to try and hit the big 100 or grea...

Big engine, need a reliable design

So I'm planning on building a 100-200 Kp(220-440 lbF) Pulsejet for a project. It's going to mounted on to an improvised Jr. Dragster frame and be practicing 1/4 mile runs What design could be scaled up to this size and thrust capability? I was also wondering what could be done to increase the longev...

Can this engine scale up in size efficiently?
