Re: Planing for next years speed weekend, (1/2 scale Argus)

Yes, it is flexing a bit. Not easy to see, and we planned to do some high speed footage of it, but kind of forgot about that. We will probably put some more support between the rear and the front mountings. Here are some recordings of the test starts performed at Saturday. http://youtu.be/9ByOTmPXzYc

Re: Planing for next years speed weekend, (1/2 scale Argus)

Wow, much better! Is that meter reading 125.4 indicating frequency? How is the tail holding up, any signs it is trying to collapse yet? Yes, it runs really well now. And feels incredibly powerful. No, the meter reads 125.4 dbA at about 2-3 meters from the front of the engine. Not sure how accurate ...

Re: Planing for next years speed weekend, (1/2 scale Argus)

joe i think he was referring to the swedish not translating very well for us english lanquage folks :) Correct! I have checked the Swedish to English translations made by Google myself, and they are pretty hilarious. Not that my English is perfect, but I really believe I'd make a better job myself....

Re: Planing for next years speed weekend, (1/2 scale Argus)

Hi Pyro, Actually, the temperature was a lot higher at the time of the test run. We had -32 Celcius (actually down to -35) the weekend before that, when we did a test run of the generator and the starting fan, but only -3 when we ran the motor. It's a pity the automatic translations by Google are qu...

Re: Are my calculations right?

The third member of "Team Erik", or Svarthålet Racing wish to introduce himself. Great to see that more people have realized what motor type is the most reliable, fuel efficient and environmentally friendly. :D Got so excited when my brother (Jim) emailed me about this thread so I had to post a mess...

Re: Planing for next years speed weekend, (1/2 scale Argus)

We have already planned to block some of the valves to make the intake area smaller. Regarding the valves, I can't really see how they could be too thin. They are thicker than the valves of the original V1, and we have seen no proof at all for them opening fully and getting in contact with the diffu...

Re: Planing for next years speed weekend, (1/2 scale Argus)

We have 12 pcs of 22gph nozzles and 6 EFI fuel pumps. The fuel pressure varies depending on the setting of the recirkulation valve, but goes from 30 psi and up. According to the info I got, the engine should need about 12l/min to run. There are no marks on our valves, so they have not been fully ope...

Re: Planing for next years speed weekend, (1/2 scale Argus)

The starting air was supplied through a 3/4" hose with 3 nozzles at the end, pointing in slightly different angles. The air flow was aimed directly at the center of the valve grid. There is no backfiring at all, so I believe the valves are closing really tight (maybe too tight?). Actually there are ...

Re: Planing for next years speed weekend, (1/2 scale Argus)

Hi This is Linus, the 3rd member of Svarthålet Racing. I have deliberately stayed away from this forum, because these kind of forums just gives me even more ideas that keeps me awake at night =) We have made several test runs with the engine by now, and have not yet managed to get it to run properly...
