Re: Senior Project FWEVIII Rev 8

If anyone want to see the report that was written for the senior project it can be downloaded here: http://digitalcommons.calpoly.edu/aerosp/6/ The big download button on the right side. At the bottom of the page is a high quality video of a run that can be downloaded and a SolidWorks 2010 model. Th...

Good work and well done, just as an after thought did you stop your ignition during the recording run? high voltage sparks tend to bleed over every thing so that could also add to your noise problems

Yes we started collecting data after I disconnected the ignition wires.

Re: Senior Project FWEVIII Rev 8

Thanks for the replies! I was confident (maybe over confident) in my welds and too lazy to unbolt it from the test stand to full it with water before trying to run it today. And the hardware store didn't have any 1/8" OD tubing BUT I did get a much better ignition system setup. Huge blue sparks crac...

Re: Senior Project FWEVIII Rev 8

Thanks, I'll have to try that tomorrow. I looked at the hardware store for some fittings to go without the regulator and all I found where BBQ LP regulators that had the correct connections which made me realize you might think thats what I have which I don't. Its a full regulator with adjusting scr...

Senior Project FWEVIII Rev 8

Hi guys, First I want to thank Graham for getting me all the info to build this little guy. Unfortunately I am having trouble getting it started. For the injectors I am using 1/4" OD copper tubing with 1/8" ID and just flattened the end with pliers. It has maybe a 1/32" gap. The propane setup does h...

Re: How a FWE engine works?

Okay so I found what I was looking for about the waves here with the Kadenacy effect http://jetzilla.com/topic_003_01.html but is that (above) describing the same thing as the combustion, exhaust, momentum, vacuum, suction, combustion, explanation http://www.pulse-jets.com/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=11&...

How a FWE engine works?

What makes a Focused Wave Engine, a focused wave engine? Does it operate any differently than other valveless pulsejets? I have heard the standard combustion, exhaust, momentum, vacuum, suction, combustion explanation before. Are there also some sort of reflecting waves internally like a 2 stroke en...

Re: Lady Anne variation.

For the Snake fuel injector, how thin is the copper pipe? It seems like it would be difficult to get it to ball up on the end to drill the 4 holes. Have these runs been on gaseous propane? I read Graham used 1mm stainless and in the beginning James used 0.7 mm. My local shop has some smaller stock o...

Theoretical Modeling Methods and Programs

I have been reading the Lady Anne variation http://www.pulse-jets.com/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4085 thread and am going to be building/replicating that one but what theoretical methods do you all use? I have found NUDiS http://www.pulse-jets.com/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3588 Where can I get UFLO...

Re: Lady Anne variation.

Have the dimensions for the latest revision been posted?

I think I would like to build this one.
