Re: What Fuel

I played around with my can today and I made a rig to put a section of 1/2 inch 1 foot brass tubing over my hole. It is about 2 inches over the top. I first just started the engine and moved a section of tubing up and down until I got it to run right then I just soldered together a stand. It makes a...

Re: What Fuel

Wow, all of those engines are very cool. I would love an engine that would run that long. Where would you get something like that?

Re: What Fuel

I have started to notice that also. My engines will run they will be doing very well then, when the are running at full speed they just stop. What type of problemis this? Cooling or to much flame? Has anyone seen how well this runs? Why does this run better than mine? Maybe it is made out of such th...

Re: What Fuel

I think the S-L-X fuel is different from what I have now. It is called denatured alcohol solvent. I thought it would be the same but I think it is mainly ethanol and not the other stuff that is in S-L-X. I can see the differnce my run times are not as long and they are louder. I will try to pick up ...

Re: What Fuel

Thank you Now the questions 1. I am using magnets that are used for model slot cars. My guess is that they are neodymium magnets because they are vey strong. I am using 4 magnets and they are only 1/8 inch wide by 1/2 inch long. Very strong. I am thinking about buying some magnets from this place. O...

Re: What Fuel

Two things. 1. When not using Heet it takes longer to start. I had to try it 5 times before it worked. 2. It runs so much longer than it does on Heet. Even when it is cooled it would only run for 40 seconds or so. Then when I tried alcohol it runs better and longer. When I ran it before it stopped o...

Re: What Fuel

Here is a video. When this is using denatured alcohol it not only runs faster but longer. With Heet there still is fuel when it goes out. I have some other runs in other videos when it only stops when it runs out of fuel. I am very happy with it. In this video luckily no water got in the can. What d...

Re: What Fuel

I found this and it talks about all differnt kinds of fuels for stoves and possibly for me my engines. It says "The vaporization pressures of methanol are much higher than ethanol throughout the applicable temperature ranges and the jets in your stove might light up faster when using this fuel." Tha...

Re: What Fuel

I got it to work. :D I used the 46 oz can started out with a 3/8 hole tried to light it and I flame shot out 1 foot and it was very loud. The top and bottom of the can were pushed out. The hole was much too small. Then I drilled a 1/2 hole in the can and the flame that shot out was smaller and a lit...

Re: What Fuel

Ok thanks a lot you are helping out and I appreciate it What is funny is that I am getting both (symptoms). Sometimes when I try it there is a big whoosh and then a small flame near the hole. other times when I shake it up well A big flame comes out very loudly and it does two cycles. It is 15 degre...

Re: What Fuel

Still no luck. The 26 oz can which has a length of 14.5 cm and diameter of 8.5 cm will not work with a 1/2 hole in the top I have a jam jar that is 26 oz that works quite well with a 1/2 hole. There are two reasons I think I may of had failure. 1. It was windy out and I did see the fmae dance. 2. I ...

Re: What Fuel

OK. Does the size of the hole have to do witht he size of the can? I would think that I 12 oz can would need a different hole than a 2 liter can. But I am not the expert and thats why I need your help. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q-19r-4wpo Do you agree with this vid? because if you do it explai...
