Re: Is this a Maggie?

Understood! I always laugh at how we all made it through childhood without bike helmets, had Daisy air rifles, and 'be home before the sun sets', but seems impossible to occur in todays world!

Re: Few Quick Questions...

I had to cut all the side holes on my strainer away to make it fit within the body properly, the only thing left was basically just the bottom disc with about an 1/8inch lip to connect to my diffuser! And seems to me I also inverted it to use the taper on the body of the strainer to assist in mainta...

Re: Is this a Maggie?

It is a great project for anyone interested in jets, rockets, fire, noise! I am going build one with my son next weekend. What you need to do Larry is put a kit together, two mugs, jb weld, fuel line and fitting, and a flameholder! Let guys figure out their own stand, 50 bucks a kit! For me it was a...

Re: Few Quick Questions...

If I can offer one suggestion, go with the JB. I used muffler cement for my Maggie, I takes the heat well but its is so so brittle. When it cures it expands and forms tiny little air bubbles and it's surface adhesion characteristcs are poor. but the upside is if you don't mind rebuilding it after ev...

Re: Few Quick Questions...

Re: Is this a Maggie?

Hey Larry---Re the flame cone, if built properly should I be able to pull the cone down into something a bit tighter and more focused, and would it help to also flare the exhaust outlet. Is there a proper ratio inlet diam/body length/outlet diam, that I can follow seeing as how it can be difficult t...

Re: Is this a Maggie?

Thats great, I figured I was headed in the right direction! The blower was on its lowest setting so moving it back is my only hope to slow it down a bit, on all my runs fuel was barely cracked to achieve the effects seen! Can't wait to put the engine back together and have another go! Great design a...

Is this a Maggie?

Well is this what one should expect from this build? This one the second run, and now the little fire breather needs a rebuild. The cement although good for high heat is to brittle and cracks very easily!

Re: Maggie build-up!

Just a quick heads up, maiden run complete. All systems go! With about a 2 foot cone of blue flame this little dragon runs like a champ. Now just waiting for night fall to take a good video!

Re: Maggie build-up!

A quick question for those who have run these. How far back should I be with the blower? Do I have to have a full bottle of propane? Mine is about 1/3, BBQ bottle that is. And i think I may have solved how to flare the inlet, I am going to heat the lip to red hot and then pull the lip down a piece o...

Re: Few Quick Questions...

I think I am going to try and build one of these this weekend, and muffler cement is a fantastic idea! Stuff only gets harder the hotter it gets, just a little goopy to start with! Wonder if its is safe, chemically speaking to mix it with JB?

Re: What Fuel

Try a 1/2 inch hole. If you can file the hole smooth so that there are no burrs in the inside, and remember to shake the can well to get some good vapour built up! Should take off right away!
