From what I can tell of people who are giving this a go the whole weather balloon method does seem to be the popular choice. But it almost feels like cheating to me! Haha
I still think should give this a go! Helps that I have access to a lot of help with the satellite design/construction and tracking!

Re: Competition to launch a nano satellite into space……
Those are all well and good, but there is a real chance of achieving them……
There so much more fun in attempting the near impossible surely? Or is that just me? Haha

Competition to launch a nano satellite into space……
Apologies if this has been brought up here before but I haven’t been back here in a while! I heard about a competition going for amateur teems to lunch a nano satellite weighing between 9.99g and 19.99g into orbit for a minimum of 9 orbits. And the winner gets…. The HUGE prize of £999.99! Not a lot ...

Static Ramjet?…
Hi, I could be way off the mark here but is it at all possible to make a ramjet run statically (ie no forward movement or big fan) I was wandering if you could use an augmenter of some sort to add clean air to the exhaust flow then redirect a portion of the exhaust gasses back to the front of the en...

Re: Now It Can Be Told ... Cyclodyne Revealed
I cant believe I only just came across this… I have only had time to have a look at the drawings as of yet, but at a glance I see a striking similarity to Bruno’s BCVPE. Maybe this is just the eyes of the inexperienced. I might just have to put aside my tesla for a while, am getting a little tired o...

Re: Tesla Compressor
I’m using a small belt drive to hook up the motor, also lets you fiddle around with gearing in a way. Alignment is also a lot easier. I don’t know about where you live but here in the UK there is a company called RS, they sell small belt drive parts in all different shapes and sizes, cheep to as the...

Re: Tesla Compressor
Bi-metal is probably the wrong term as it is a little misleading, what I mean the centre of the disks will be 303 stainless and the outer part will be aluminium (about half and half going by diameter) this allows me to utilise the strength of stainless where the disks are weakest and the low weight ...

Happy Birthday Nikola Tesla
Happy birthday Nikola tesla, possibly one of the greatest electrical engineers, inventors and showman ever! Should he still be alive he would have been 153 today.

Re: Tesla Compressor
The project is not dead and gone, not yet anyway. Things have been rather busy lately; two kids, moving house and a credit crunch have made spare time no longer spare! I still browse the forums though, even if I don’t post. To the point, I have been making some real progress lately, the project you ...

Re: UK Trip in April
Hay mike, Is there any news for specific dates or a location yet? I am hoping to come, but there is a slim chance I will be a busy. I might bring my little tesla project, the mill decided to give up on us last week (encoder problems :? ) so there is little chance of getting it finished in time. :( J...

Re: HELP!
The kind of quality and quantity of mirrors or lenses required for such an engine would be both huge in cost and size, and very dependent on weather (no so dependable here in England!) Perhaps a more practical and portable solution would be a laser, ok so its not free energy, but it does suggest a k...

Re: Tesla Compressor
I fully understand what both of you are saying. When I designed the casing my main intent was how simple can I make it? It was never meant to be as efficient as possible. I did think about working out the gas flow angles and making the outlet to suit. But I came to a point of where do I stop, if it ...

Re: Tesla Compressor
Here is my latest progress, I haven’t had much time over the last two weeks so its not really much, but I have reached a milestone so thought it best to post my progress. The turbine section is now complete! I managed to mill the slots in the casing ends; drill the end cap mounting holes and make a ...

Re: Tesla Compressor
I got a bit more done this weekend, was gone post some pics last week but I didn’t get round to it. I have mostly finished the actual Tesla Pump, there is a little more milling to do on it but the hard parts are all covered. I made a casing for the drive motor, still have to work out how to cool it ...

Re: Tesla Compressor
Larry, that is basically how I went about it. First I worked out how much load (per mm2) will be applied to the disks from the (assumed) weakest point, then I worked out the exact Yield point of the material, again per mm2. Then worked out how many square mm there were, the rest is easy! I got AutoC...
