Re: Rotary Valve Pulse-Jets

Hi Guys, I haven't been active on the forum for ages, but I have been working on a project like this over the past little while. I'm just wondering if this project ever got off the ground or if you know of any similar projects that have been successfully built and run? I have most of the electronics...

Re: FD3/64 in Pro Desktop

Ha ha they are too... How about that! Shouldn't make any difference to performance I'm sure... I shall have a look through the newsletters.

Re: FD3/64 in Pro Desktop

Yes I thought there were updated drawings. Do they use flame tubes as opposed to the spiral for the fuel? Also, are the updated drawings in his later book, or on the internet somewhere...?

Cheers, Tim

FD3/64 in Pro Desktop

This is a little project I've been playing with before actually starting the build for real.

Re: FD3-64 casing question

Hi John.

Where could I get copies of Kamp's book and any other books that might be useful? Is there an english translation of any of Kurt's references? I think the book on fans would be very interesting. I'm in Stawell, Victoria.

Cheers, Tim

Re: FD3-64 casing question

I would think you are safe to go with the drawing. It is strange but I guess he must have decided to increase the diameter to help lower the exhaust temp when he was doing the drawings. It's a good book but have you found some his formulaes in the turbine and compressor calculations section to be wr...

Re: FD3/64-2:1!

Brilliant! I'm currently reading Kurt Schreckling's book based around the FD3/64. I have opted to restrain from commencing construction until I get my head around all of his design formulaes. He talks about the single stage compressor being efficient at the original scale, it will be interesting at ...

Re: Newbie valves - please be gentle!

I spent ages trying to get the valves in my pulse jet right. The valves I am using now are made from .006" feeler strips. I used the dremel to cut the valves almost to size, and then finished them on a fine file to prevent burring and all that stuff that makes them leak. When you drill the holes in ...

Quest for knowledge...

Hey, can anyone suggest some reading material to firstly improve my mathematical understanding to a more engineering level, and secondly to improve my understanding of jet engines to beyond the fundamentals. I've had enough of looking through the net. Are there any good books?
Cheers

Thanks, I'm making an augmentor for it now and might have a play with the tailpipe length.

You can't actually see the valves under the retainer, they've survived two runs of about a minute and a half, plus starting, so I'm pleased with them.

Re: Carbie style fuel delivery

hey, I had the slide held by a threaded rod, so I could adjust the slide height by turning a nut on top. I'll try to get my hands on a video camera this weekend if I get a chance to run it again. It wasn't that hard to start, the trick was getting the slide in the right position to start it.

Re: Carbie style fuel delivery

Ha ha when I posted that I thought it had run... No it was just being a scare gun :P It does run now, and I ended up using a motorcycle carbie. Is that un-common? It seems to work brilliantly.
