Re: Jam Jar Car Fun
That little spinner is hilarious. It would probably be to hard to balance with a proper extractor on it....

That looks like a fun project. Have you thought about asymmetrical tube lengths? Intake and exhaust?

Returning to the air
I have been getting back to the R/C flying hobby lately, and I have derived the following definitions, and rules. Good launch: The plane has been heaved into the air at a good angle and in a safe direction. Launch; The plane has been heaved into the air. Takeoff; The plane has taken off from the gro...

Brief Update
Mostly to busy to do anything jet wise these days. BUT.
For a variety of reasons, I have decided to build an upscaled unit;
New CC components on left, Old size on right.
We are preparing to move on top of everything else, so it may be awhile, before there is thunder.
Cheers

When I have fuel and time again.
Cheers.

Re: More in the saga of Thermo-Jam ( and other musings )
Video ....
The screws you see on the intake side do nothing but plug the holes they are in, parts re-use.
The fuel is Methanol.

Re: More in the saga of Thermo-Jam ( and other musings )
Just did, or rather re-did, an inline version test. In this order: 30" 1/2" pipe tail pipe. 1/2" to 2" bell adapter 2" x 8" pipe. 2" pipe cap with approx, 1/2" hole in it. If ignited from the tail pipe end it buzzes ( ish ) along for a wile on methanol. No pics or videos, sorry, limited time lately....

Re: More in the saga of Thermo-Jam ( and other musings )
A little correction:
An "I" drill is .2720, I have no Idea where I got .290!
I seem to have posted this error in a few places. Sorry if I have caused any confusion.

Re: More in the saga of Thermo-Jam ( and other musings )
The shorter ones are generally better able to run in either attitude, but It never occurred to me to move an operating engine.... I may have to try that.

Re: More in the saga of Thermo-Jam ( and other musings )
I built a convective device a wile back, it would buzz at the intake ports, until it would have a massive backfire. It cleaned the rafters well. Here is a much more open design, I am working on, slowly. http://youtu.be/rseO31fpYw0 http://youtu.be/rseO31fpYw0 Definitely a work in progress. That valve...
