Re: Why won't my Pulse Jet run?

Oops - forgot to say that you also have to find the 'sweet' spot for how far you have the fuel in the intake. When doing all this experimenting etc try to use the least amount of air so the thing doesn't blow torch out the back. So you have a least 3 variables to work on. Sure lots of mucking about ...

Re: Why won't my Pulse Jet run?

Hi Skepticol, First get rid of that damned restrictor...Dude get rid of it! OK - like metiz says - exhaust is too fat and short ...the intake looks way short as well. I had trouble with some of my earlier jets...so here is what I would suggest. Cut the flare off the intake first - the main mission i...

Re: Senior Project- Designing and building pulsejet

..."he was afraid the flame could shoot back in the line and the tank would explode, does anybody know something about that." Yes Metiz is correct on that account the tank won't explode - mainly due to the pressure difference etc. Interestingly the only case that I know of a propane tank exploding w...

Re: Aussie project

Gidday Chook, Nice one mate - good engines - I'm across the ditch from you in NZ. I just used to use a coil , and spark it directly from the battery - bit of a drama trying to do that and fiddle with the air etc. A very serious sporting injury called "marriage"... LOL... that is funny..unfortunately...

Re: FWE VIII problem

1)Use a Rossco injector and try different positions in the intake
2)Use a bigger Propane tank.
3)Change Diameter of Intake to bigger Dia.
4)Change length of intake by using a sliding piece of pipe .

Try 1) and 2) first

Re: Pulsejet in Singapore

Hi Tobiasbt, Valveless Pulse jets have been/and are used in the drying of various slurried materials. Most are a deriative of the Lockwood Valveless. I suggest you do an internet search on the topic of Industrial Drying. The main problems are noise, fuel consumption and vibration absorption. But for...

Nitrogen triiodide = big time senstitive - impressed the heck out of my chemistry teacher Potassium permagnate and glycerine = 'Purple Sludge' Some of the names from my long ago youth... :D One of my fellow experimenters now is a Ph.D Chemistry University whizz - which goes to show that some youthfu...

DIY high temperature composite pulse jets

Hi everyone - interested to get your comments on the YouTube video entitled... "DIY high temperature composite pulse jets ". The engines look to be a Thermojet,Chinese and a mini sort of M40ish looking engine. The thermojet shows a pretty interesting thrust to weight ratio - see the vid and you will...

Re: pulse jet fuel

"electrolysis of water ... hydrogen and oxygen ... inject the gases into your fuel stream then it boosts the burn efficiency" Yeah Tufty is right - at the output that electrolysis of water gets you aren't really going to get enough gas - all you'll be doing is burning the Hydrogen and Oxygen - which...

Re: Is this workable, or just more pie in the sky?

Yeah it will work. I know a guy who used to lie in a field in Vietnam just so he could experience the sound of untold Huey's taking off. He said it was an awesomly loud ground shaking experience. The US soldiers thought he was some sort of weird Kiwi Soldier - so they just stepped over him.Well come ...

Re: Lockwood powered Go Kart

Hi - Good to see someone building something!
I want to echo what everybody has been saying safety wise.
You can either move the seat higher (way higher) - or move the engine way back.
As it is now you are going to have one really hot ride...
These things get hotter than a hot thing...

Re: supersonic valveless pulsejet

Hi Sadmemories20, Aerodynamics is the most important factor. Airframe, materials, design -everything must work. A huge engine will get you there. "...without making any special arrangement in the exit of the turbojet engines" Variable nozzles, reheat/afterburner etc - that will just get you there qui...
