valve or not a valve...

Thanks for the illustration, sharing knowledge. I am a person who depends on logical explanation. That is the only way to avoid errors, automatically repeating even the most corect facts may not suffice. I was not completely satisfied with any explanation during my long activities in the field until...

valve or not a valve...

Just a thought. I do not really believe in this method because it will produce drag in both directions and the difference is not enough to be considered an effective solution. However, it is not good idea to refuse working on it because the aerodynamics and hydrodynamics are complicated When I work o...

valve or not a valve - that's the question

The tesla rectifier is a fascinating concept. I am using similar idea, but do not really believe it will be as efficient as it looks. here must be serious resistance in both direction and if the difference is useful it would require many tests and complex computations.

You must wait for some time, I am in a negotiation. There is a line separating a hobby from srious business and this one is far over the line, using radical approach. I believe you guys will understand everyone is entitled to some reward for a lifetime's work. I maty try to publish all my inventions...

designing PJ: What do you shoot for?

In a group of less cultured men, every female passing by is judged on a scale from zero to ten .- sometimes whistled at. The criteria are established not by democratic vote or dictatorship, nor fashion, but by sound biological principles, which makes it proper, in sort of way. In designing PJ laws o...

paddlewheeler valve unit

Not really a paddlewheeler, just logical development, maybe the last one (I said this many times) since I am not a valved fan. I can get the same performance from the valveless, so why bother. The valves are long, bend very little starting far from the actual port holes. Down there they lay flat. I ...

The round one may have too much welding. Here is another variation , square, using different manufacturing process. The air enters in "S" path.
Otherwise the same adantages.

...and another valve grid

I am very curious about the stacked valves. I did something which could be called stacked, small petals in circular arrangement which could be added on in steps and increase diameter for different size engines. But I did not like it because if a reed in the middle was faulty everything would have to...

Paddlewheeler valve unit

I believe there are following notable improvements:
a) large intake passages
b)conservative reed bending
c) good cooling of limiting plate/wall

petal valves in dead end

Right. Bending without twisting is already big headache. The very existence of these valve is a headache. The best I could do is to make the valve grid to mach the slant of the limiting plate. They would be clamped and twisted before they lay down on their sections of the grid and pretend nothing ha...

Another "A" valve grid

Valves should be just right size. Too long or large will not work at higher frequencies, too ssmall have unfavourable ratio of grid/passage area.

reed valves in dead end?

You are correct, the holes should be divided. It is also true the only way to test and refine a design is to build the engine. Computations should be done afterwards based on data , even as they are rudimentary, which were obtained practically. As you can see space agencies spent billions on computa...

petal valves in dead end ?

It is widespread belief that a pulse jet must have intake in front, then chamber and after that exhaust, Not so. It is the mindsets which prevent progress, fear of contravening established customs which the small minds defend at any cost, coupled with poor resistance to brainwashing. Examine the att...

headaches in designing PJ

I believe many of us are confused, including myself, about basic functions and definitions in the PJ. The common thing they have is intermittent power. There is a distinction between the "valved and "valveless". The engines should be more properly categorized as "mechanically valved", "aerodynamicall...

This particular engine is at least 30 years old. I had no facility then and now I am even less equipped to actually build it. It is only last year or so I am able to work the rendering software, I do hate computers. It is only under extreme pressure to make professionally looking software that I for...
