Got a few turbos I wanna play with

I have a few turbos with titanium alloy turbines. I'd like to see if these can be made into a more conventional style thrust producing engine without the burner can being located off the side as we usually build them. I'd like a more can annular style. I also want to add an afterburner. Anyone know ...

Re: rotating pulse detonation engine

I wonder if they got the idea from here? We were doing some serious stuff, though mostly just having fun. If we could have kept at it makes ya wonder what we could have made.

rotating pulse detonation engine

This is seriously interesting. Years ago I thought of rotating a ram engine to generate a rotating airflow at low speed for higher energy. Looks like I was a bit off, but the concept was there.

Re: The Great Ramjet Challenge!!!

Hey Mike, I really appreciate you keeping this page going. I'm hoping to eventually build one of the designs I posted on here, somewhere. The one that's a pulsating ram. Have you spoke to Larry at all? I always enjoyed his interactions as well.

Re: The Great Ramjet Challenge!!!

I just wanted to jump on here and reminisce. I sure miss this thread, it was the most epic and best thing to ever happen on the internet in the history of ever. I wish we could do it again.

Re: Turbo jet plans

Ractetmotorman.... if you are still out there, thank you very much for all the information you posted here. I am planning on building an axial flow motor very soon. I am in the phases where I need to know everything... most importantly, to know what it is I am not even aware of. This information in ...

Re: The Great Ramjet Challenge!!!

Well I just remembered that I have a skill saw.... Bet i can take the blade and guard off, then mount a pulley and do a belt drive to the skill saw motor.... Wait, wtf is wrong with me, I could use an oil pump off a car and run it up to full speed. They run all the way up too 120 psi and are high fl...

Re: The Great Ramjet Challenge!!!

Thank you for the reply tufty. If I had thought on it a little harder I would have remembered that pressure in a hydraulic system is equal through all components. So I am looking at a flow rate problem because I am using a skinny metal line to push the fuel to the engine. So I need a larger line for...

Re: The Great Ramjet Challenge!!!

Well, I tried the fuel nozzle just doing an outside engine spray test. Just a solid week spray stream. I need more pressure than what my propane pressure system will deliver. So, I will be boosting the pressure with a pump next, soon as I find a suitable motor to power my pump. May use an electric m...

Re: The Great Ramjet Challenge!!!

So a quick visit to ace hardware hooked me up with a nice small brass spray nozzle. It has some sort of synthetic O ring in it, but hopefully the fuel flow through it will keep the ring from melting. If I can get a good spray of oil out this thing, the next step in fuel delivery is going to be a pow...

Re: The Great Ramjet Challenge!!!

I know this is quite the thread resurrection, but this is such an awesome thread didnt think anybody would mind. So years have gone past, but I havent forgotten this and still have my engine. I recently dug it out, and fired it up. This time though, I decided to run it off of old used up burnt motor...

I need a good atomizer

WOW I havent been here in years! Hope everybody still has all their arm hair and eyebrows LOL! Anyway, I am building a forge for metal working. I need it to run off of used motor oil. The problem is that I need a way to spray the fuel into the combustion chamber with a fine enough mist to get a good...

Re: turbine blade source

well, you can be a BIG help because there are a few parts that I have no idea how to make without machining them. I will take you up on your offer to help, with a few parts, just as soon as I feel that I have the proper deminsions. Are your services going to cost much? Cause I aint got much. I will ...

Re: 50 mph ramjet???

Larry, you dont think we can get higher pressure by spinning the jet? if you had a 400 mph vortex of air spinning through a jet at a foward speen of 50 mph, you dont think it could be compressed to sufficient pressure to make some real thrust and do some major propulsion? Out of curriosity, take sai...
