re: 1st Static test
Ok... I got tired of rolling paper tubes, and decided to go the PVC route. 1/2" PVC 600lbs. Here she is... http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j138/cknoble/P1010012-1.jpg I used a socket as the nozzle. http://s79.photobucket.com/albums/j138/cknoble/?action=view¤t=P1010011.flv This is a daytime test. As you can see it blew the nozzle. This was the result. http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j138/cknoble/P1010012.jpg Next time I'll drill and pin the nozzle to the case. This motor was as follows...

re: 1st Static test
Is thier a way to figure the KN and impluse without a pressure transducer, or a test stand? Based only off the the known propellent, and the physical specs of the motor? ie. grain size/internal motor dimensions, nozel size, ect... Edit: Ok, I'm reading thru Nakka's theory section, so hopefully I'll ...

1st Static test
First static test that actually worked. I thought a night time shot might look better (and I don't have the paitence to wait till morning), but like I've heard, KNO3/Suger doesn't give a very good flame, so you can't really see very much. It did sound pretty good though. I'll try and post some dayti...

Fiberglass motor casing
Anyone have any thoughts on using fiberglass as a motor casing? Would heat resistant tape on the inner layer be suffiecient guard against burnthru. I'm mainly thinking of it's possible advantage over PVC in the advent of an engine failure. I would think that it would rupture, vs. fragmenting like PV...

re: Toxic fumes boiling KNO3 in water.
Thanks for the replies. Boiling it out worked great, and gave me a very fine consistancy. This mixes with the suger much better, and gives a much faster burning propellent.

Toxic fumes boiling KNO3 in water.
Are there any toxic fumes given off when KNO3 is desolved in water, and boiled out? I am using this method to break down the particle size, and I'm just concerned about the any vapors that it may be giving off.

re: How to test stump remover for KNO3?
Thanks for the link, seems like some great prices there. I will definatly look to ebay if buying some larger qty's. However, right now I just want a cheap small amount to start off with. There's got to be a fairly simple test to determine if the substance is a high % KNO3.

How to test stump remover for KNO3?
I originaly started looking at this site, for pulsejet design. I've even gone and bought a welder. However my welding will need some practice before I start building anything. So...my question, I have been reading thru this rocket forum, and Nakka's site, and I found some stump remover at the local ...
