Re: New to jet building, not new to jets. :D
Hi Brady, as Metiz said, you should check out the JATO-Forum, you will recognise many threads there ;) Also you can check out the DIY-Turbines mailing list on yahoo: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/DIYGasTurbines/ The layout is a little bit oldish, but there is an incredible amount of info on tha...

intake turbine
Hi Bruno Yep, it's a freepower in the intake duct. Schreckling made it of plywood which makes it easier to build, but power output is lower than from a turbine on the hot side. Also it needs post guiding vanes to reduce turbulences in the air going into the compressor. So long, Dennis PS: maybe I'm ...

Schreckling book
Hi Bruno, It has been published some time ago and is quite like his book about normal engines (the one with plans for the KJ66 and TK50 in it). It also has kind of the same beginning (same maths ;) ) and then turns on to two shaft turbines with diagrams of prop size, best freepower rpm and so on. He...

little update...
After a quite long time I finally came to build a few new parts... Nothing spectacular though, but another step to finishing the project hopefully within the next year... CC inner and outer wall, almost finished http://www.bilder-speicher.de/07122519820449.maxdirekt.jpg NGV plate half finished http:...

reverse flow combustion chamber
Ok John.... ;) I think it has a little less performance than a "normal" axial turbine and straight CC (says so in the German Wikipedia) but if you look at Ash's turbine, you have the same bent as in the design I want to use except that the gases in his sketch kind of keep their original direction wh...

Hi John! Wanting to build a GT with a complete turbocharger rotating assembly myself, I found this arrangement out of the Kamps book worth trying (little blurry scanned and in German but one should get the idea). Will make the turbine longer, but saves you the troubles of a too short CC and building...

Hi Johansson I used the lathe to make the basic style and the used an iron saw and file to bring it into shape. Had cost me several sawing blades and the file was brand new before using it. Seems that SS is quite tough or at least tougher than the crap a normal hobbyist can buy in Germany ;) So long...

long, long ago...
So finally I found time to build on and post something... http://www.bilder-speicher.de/07080417933073.maxdirekt.jpg The compressorplate together with the tools I used making it (a little blurry) http://www.bilder-speicher.de/07080417572821.maxdirekt.jpg Look down on the stator plate. One of the van...

Hi Rossco
I'm not that good at drawing, but will post some dimensions and stuff here as work progresses. Still have to calculate and work out a few things.

Gas tank
Hi Jason As the two above said, this will never happen to a gas tank with a turbine plugged in although many say so. Maybe just a scary tale to prevent children from playing with hairspray and lighter... In Germany sold gas bottles also have a normally integrated one-way-valve installed to prevent a...

Sounds like I've got a plan now
Thanks to you guys above @racket: Almost made a "little" mistake by confusing + and - 10% to comp. Thanks for the correction. Will do a corrected concept now. @rossco: Would surely be interesting to see how everything behaves... Just tell me what dimensions you need and you'll have them as soon as I...

Throat Area
Doing a few calculations over the weekend I came to the question how much turbine throat area I should give her. Atm I was thinking about 90% of the compressors outlet area, but can anyone tell me a rule of thumb? Would be cool to know how much I should have for "sure". So far thanks in advance, Den...

Aftermarket Kit
Would be an interesting thing to have an extension. But as long as there are no standards in shaft strenghts and many different turbos used due to different amounts of thrust wanted and more or less accessability one will still have to build a reverse flow CC for bigger GTs in the future if not want...
