how exactly do these roll the steel? do you clamp the sheet under the tube, and use a hammer to beat it around into shape?

also, does this setup work better than a slip roll former?

and are there any plans out there for one of these?

re: turbocharger teardown.

i used a pair of screw drivers (and eventaully the nail remover on a hammer) to get everything off, and i now have the turbine/shaft out of the center housing.

thanks for the help ;)

re: turbocharger teardown.

i'm not reassembleing the turbo, i'm building more of like a model R/C type engine, using the compressor and radial inflow turbine.

compressor is already off, when i get finished i will re-balance the rotor assembly.

attn homebuilders: would you use it?

so i'm attempting to homebuild a small turbine, and today i got the front intake off the turbocharger that the compressor is coming from (KKK K03 turbocharger, 50mm compressor). it looks as tho the compressor was rubbing against the housing......certain areas of the fins look slightly ground down. h...

re: do compressor wheels "explode"?

i don't think OT posts and threads should be (re)moved. it happens in everyday conversation. "hey bob, you see that mustang at the track the other day?" "YEAH! ran in the 9's didn't it?" "yep, dude said he had two garret T3/T4 hybrid turbochargers on there" "damn, those are badass. gotta wonder what...

higher you go=thinner the air=lower the speed of sound.

on mars, the speed of sound is around 586 mph

Re: re: do compressor wheels "explode"?

Some larger calibers like 30-06, and I'm sure some military .50 caliber sniper rifles are supersonic also, but like Al said about the .45, you won't find supersonic velocities in any pistol that I know of. High velocities are not so great for short range stopping power anyhow, a big slow bullet wil...

Re: re: do compressor wheels "explode"?

A 1/4" thick steel plate is adequate. No need for Kevlar. The compressor & turbine-housings are quite "bullet" resistant... I was joking about the kevlar, but still its bullet resistant. And b/c of GTs being dangerous I stopped thinking of making one. poeple are forgetting that although the speeds a...

so it's more like 4 15lbs thrust pulse jets running with that force frquency system, all wrpped together in a shroud?
