A very nice mix is 60% Cu(NO3)2 35% sulfur and 5% magnesium powder. I gives a very bright blue flame and lots of nitrogen and nitrogen oxides, and sulfur dioxide/trioxide for propulsion.(not be VERRY careful to keep this in an airtight container, it can spontaneously ignite when wet)

Also if you move the KMnO4 colse enough to the gel the flame from the KMnO4/ fule contacts it it shoud burn and further break down would be catalysed by heat. I replaced the CuO with KNO3 and I found it hard to mix as the KNO3 moved to the botom of the pot but i stired it as it cooled. When I used it it worke well for a few seconds untill a glob of wax came flying out...i think its because the het produced melts the wax farther up and cuases the hole chun...

Dude, why dont you try that rocket? Also a mixture of 2 MgO to 3 Al might work, but i wont try it because i dont want my yard coverd in molton metal :)

I think il try using Parafen wax as a fuel and binder for my next rocket, i''l melt the wax the mix in CuO powder do u think it will work?

using a cone to aim the fule at the oxidiser would help...look at the sketch its a verry rugh sketch dont laugh

aerogel might work, its hard to get in big chunks try a milatery surplus store

for the heat sheld u should use aerogel this stuff would be perfict...only prob is its hard to get big chunks of it...glue some small chucks together with silaca glue
