New Hosting

"that amount of traffic has increased to around 40 GB a month , and that is not cheep!!!"

Possibly you should concider switching hosts. 40gb a month is usually very cheap as its less then the ammount of transfer you get with most residential connections.

re: Pipe fitting Ramjet

When is a ramjet, a ramjet?

I know with the pulsejets its easy to tell if its operating as it should because it makes a horridly loud noise (if it ain't loud, it ain't runnin :P)

But what about with ramjets? Just if there is thrust? or am i playing with a glorified torch :P

Pipe fitting Ramjet

I've been playing around with a 'ramjet' if that is what it is yet but i have a few questions. (dont knock its noobishness :P, i know its not purrdy) Does a compressor provide enough air movement to properly sustain a ramjet while stationary? I would assume it would depend on placement and if its bl...

re: newbie having problems starting a Dyna-jet

I took my AAA lighter and attached a 9V to it. Much hotter, constant spark. (drains 9V pretty fast). I have used it for months and months like this. I've let it spark for periods of longer then 10min on 9v. Now, i dont know about all types, but its worked so far for mine. Works great for pulsejets a...

re: spark ignitor?

Use a BBQ starter that normally takes a 1.5v AA battery. Stick a 9v in there and ooooh weee! :) Works very well. http://www.canadiantire.ca/assortments/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524443279395&FOLDER%3C%3EbrowsePath=2534374303517513&FOLDER%3C%3EbrowsePath=2534374303517526&FOLDER%3C%3Eb...

re: Pop Can Pulsejet

What are the 'proper' dimensions for a small pipewood that will run on propane? I've been trying to figure out what the proper set of measurements are, but there has been so much experimentation, its hard to find what has worked best.

Is the image of the ugly stick correct minus the CC size?

re: Pop Can Pulsejet

Looks like home depot has gone back to only 1" and smaller steel plumbing parts :( Wanted to build the Pipewood but there was no 2" pipe. I will have to try another store. I got a whole load of 1/2 & 3/8th fittings to play with. Do you really need to use a 20LB tank to run a smaller pipewood? Going ...

re: Pop Can Pulsejet

Sadly the can didn't last long enough for me to take any video of it. Fitting was just done with a tight fitting hole and a screw clamp to prevent the pipe from sliding into the can any further then I wanted. It was just a hole dead center in the bottom of the can with holes placed around the outer ...

Correct me if I am wrong, But I thought we could not just scale pulse jets?

Please correct me if that is wrong as it would save me much planning also :)

Thats pretty awesome larry, I love the first image before lighting :) The fact that I have no welding experience, or even a welder is hindering on just experimenting, but I will rectify this one day soon. Need to get a welder as there are many projects I could use it on. I would love to get an engin...

re: Pop Can Pulsejet

Biggest thing is being able to adjust the ammount of air going up the large pipe which in turn controls how much is being pulled in. I noticed when I did not mount the pipe and held it by plyers allowing me to position it better I could have a nice long few minuite run without the fire going out or ...

re: Pop Can Pulsejet

in the ammount of time it just took to get the soda out of the can and off myself, I could have built 2 the other way ;) I used a 1 inch OD copper pipe this time that was about 3 feet and wow! the thing was going crazy. Didn't even go out this time. As soon as I tried sealing the copper pipe, WOW! i...
