re: escort pump

Any of those gear pumps look fine. I got mine as a used unit so it was quite cheap (from memory it was around $40 aus). I used a variable speed drill to intially test it and find out the approx rpm needed to give me plenty of pressure. Then I have used since then a 24volt gear head motor from a old ...

re: escort pump

For oil filtration I used the metal EFI fuel filter that you can see in the pics! I can tell you that this filter has been in use for over 6 years ( I probably should change it!) and I have not had any issues with my turbo at all. The filter has to cope with EFI pressures so is more than capable of ...

re: escort pump

Hi Shawn, I have added some pics of my oil system for you. The pic "First GT" shows my first setup using a car pump and oil box, drive motor etc. It did work ok - however I wanted something a little neater than this ( as my goal was to eventually build a kart). The other pics show the little hydraul...

re: escort pump

My advice would be to use a small hydraulic oil pump. I used a car oil pump in my first build many years ago and it was a pain in the arse, I had to make an enclosure for it and set up drive shafts etc - it was big and clumsy. I then went to a hydraulic parts shop and they had these beautifull littl...

re: I need a new project!

Hi Racket, Yeah I loved your Kart (I believe it is sold now?). From the pics I seem to recall you created a custom housing and bearing carrier etc for the free power turbine. I dont have tools etc to create these sections. Would it be feasable to use a complete second turbo with its compressor housi...

re: 1944 V1 rocket launch procedure

Thanks for the link! I previously tried opening the file by using the properties name of the file (which shows up as film_174) so I was very close. I had everything right except I added the underscore. Now I know better - thanks.

The future of Jet travel?

I often wonder what the future holds for powering large passenger planes? The oil crisis and escallating costs of fuel will eventually make it unviable to power these craft with fossil fuels. Ships can be powered via nuclear power and land based vehicles have many options, but the massive power (thr...

I need a new project!

Hi Gas Turbine enthusiasts! I want to move on from my previous projects (Valveless section "Aussie guys first jets" & "Aussie lockwood rocks") and have a go at a GT with freepower. As per my first build on late 90's ("Aussie guys first jets") I have reasonable experience with Turbo based GT's. Since...

re: Problems getting to this site

I have also recently been through this little nightmare and battled it for nearly a month. My tracert would fail at the same place as others. I could go down the road to our local telstra bigpond dealer (Australian major ISP) and no access there and yet next door at the computer shop with ISP westne...

re: Aussie Lockwood Rocks!!!

Yeah those intake pics are nice but hard to take the heat and vibration at 40 lb thrust means I can only just stick my hand in (at about 8 feet away) and start clicking hoping for the best! Now for some of my testing. First up I have decided to focus on getting the best out of the engine without the...

re: Aussie Lockwood Rocks!!!

Hi Folks, I have been offline for about 2 weeks (ISP problems). Lots of testing during that time. I will post a more detailed summary in the next day or 2. Here are some pics of my latest tests with my new dual injector liquid / vapour rig......and it works a treat. Rock solid running and throttle r...

re: 55 lbf L-H replacement?!?

I am looking forward to the testing and hopefully availability of the breEZE engine. I can picture in my mind a Kart with 2 of these engines built into the chasis! Having said that (Daniel S..take note of this) I have reconsidered my plans for a PJ Kart. The sound and consequent damage to your heari...

re: APC injector developments

About 8 years ago i built my first jet engine using a turbo. Initially it was set up on propane but as I developed the engine I ended up with it running on kero at 110 PSI. The injector delivered a beautifull highly atomised conical spray of liquid from one hole......it was an off the shelf brass ag...
