I built a jetengine for a school project. in the last year of your school (pre-university?) you can make a extensive research about something. some people do things with history, language but I did science..

re: No-weld pipe fitting valveless

I just bougt some pipe fittings, 2 1 1/4" bends, some 3/4" and 1" and some reducers. still no 2"pipe and the big reducers though..

Too bad that here only 1.5-2 reducers are available, nothing from 2" to a smaller diameter.

re: No-weld pipe fitting valveless

Damn this is nice!! I am going to build one ASAP (wel I have 2 weeks with exams coming up monday, so I'll start in 3 weeks or so)... A local store is selling all their pipe fittings that are larger than 1.5" at a lower price because they aren't used by normal household water lines, so for 25 euro's ...

re: 124cc timing help???

I just rebuilt a honda 80 cc four stroke dirtbike and the cam timing was very easy, jsut place the crankshaft in the TDC position and the camshaft in the position that the valves are both NOT lifted, and then there should be some markings that are almost nexxt to each other... http://img141.imagesha...

re: Soda Bottle rocket taken to the next level!

I experimented with air/water rockets too... I started with a bicicle pump and a simple bottle and a cork, but soon I used a old refrigirator compressor and some hoses and a much tighter cork. I experimented with lots of nozzle diameters and pressures, adding soap to the water etc, lots of fun.. Now...

re: Window in combustion chamber?

Yeah I know, safety comes first!
I have designed a method to mount the window is such a way that it can be a plate, and doesn't needs to be bended around the cc.
My design also can be used to have 2 layers, with one layer free to expand.

A safety factor of 3 is indeed a must in this case!

re: Window in combustion chamber?

sorry I forgot to mention, the display stands are indeed pretty low quality, the other 1.5 cm thick piece is a much better material. Boiler glasses are indeed a good choice, but cutting glass is pretty difficult I guess, and I don't have the glass. I think that I just make the hole in the cc and a f...

re: Window in combustion chamber?

thanks for the tips, I was thinking of some heat shielding etc but the foil is a really good idea! I am not sure of the material I have, I assumed it is plexiglass, but thst just a guess. Its a clear material, it is from a local car dealer, they threw away all the brochure stands, and I took them ho...

re: Window in combustion chamber?

Ok, thanks... I doubt* that the outside if the combustion chamber gets too hot for plexiglass. My engine is running at 5 PSI so the compressor discharge air is not very hot. The outside of the cc can be touched when the engine is running. maybe it gets 100 degrees C. I can search/calculate the stren...

Window in combustion chamber?

Hi, I am new here. You may know my site, www.jetengines.tk. I live in the netherlands, study mechanical engineering, bla bla. The combustion chamber of my jetengine is a bad design. The engine runs with it but the ignition electrodes are bad and it leaks air, and its a bit too small for the turbo th...
