Here my Propane-Tanks:[/quote]
Now if only we could figure out how to hold one of these upside down.......Let's see if we can calculate the size of the jet it would feed.

re: Candy rocket rules of thumb
After you reground the knos/sugar mix for maximum surface area for your maximum burn rate, did you just fill your motor chamber or did you press it in firmly? P.S. Even though these guys hijacked my thread for this off shoot of a subject. I still can learn new stuff. Feel free to do it anytime.I don...

Candy rocket rules of thumb
Can anyone shed some info on the design of candy rockets? ; I don't mean the fuel reciepes, but the design of the basic diameter and depth of the hollow core inside of the fuel in relationship to the motor's diameter and length.

WE just got 12 inches of SNOW today. BTW , have you polished any rust/humidity off your tools and projects lately? HeeHeeHee your temp does indeed make me jealous though. Lucky you, I'd rather polish rust than scrape ice! have a warm day. mikeDang911 wrote:.

re: Article - Good Enough for Wikipedia?
a few mentions of "explosions" for the explaination, from my pyrotechnic dabblings, Shouldn't these be called deflagrations or something to that effect. I'm no scientist but doesn't the term explosion refer to something happening at a faster burn rate than those found on pulsejets (pulsejet ONE word...

re: Propane Regulator
What mike says is true. But for what it's worth if you are just curious or you are using whatever you have on hand, I use a regulator off of an acetylene tank and it works very well. However, if you start flipping the tank for maximum fuel output, they (the reg.) tend to freeze up. That's where the ...

re: how do I measure thrust....simply?
yessiree IT RUNS! It's about 38" long (1meter)with a 2" (50mm)tail pipe. Thanks for the encouragement. I HAVE read tons of post throughout this site. However, a lot of the most useful information is just like this post; while rambling on about one subject, the authors and respondants will jump to an...

how do I measure thrust....simply?
I have build a 2X scale FWE styled pulse jet from Eric's plans and Larry's scaling info on this site. I would like to measure the thrust to tune it further. Anyone have any ideas to share? Is it simply a matter of getting a pulley arrangment on a wheeled sled of sorts to see how much weight it pulls...

re: easy to build pulsejet
Take Eric up on his suggestion utilizing his plan. I built a 2x scale FWE styled jet and had it running sweet after experimenting with starting it in about five minutes. It was an easy design to build utilizing sheetmetal and tin snips and a bunch a junk laying around. If your doing it as a school p...

re: Recommeded method of fueling FWE with propane
Thank you Steve. It appears to be just beyond where the flare ends. Is that just a wide open line? I.E nothing on the end, no pinch ? Looks like 4-5 mm in diameter. Correct? The memebers on this forum are some of the most helpful people I've ever dealt with. You all deserve a pat on the back. I will...

Recommeded method of fueling FWE with propane
I need a suggestion as I have completed my build! After a quick experiment, my eyebrows are intact but I'm missing some hair on my forearms! I know I need to add the slightest breeze of air to the intake but I'm a little in the dark as to proper propane delivery. I'm using a 100 lb tank (old style) ...

FWE intake length for a 2x sized engine ????
After numerous failures of my "made of junk stuff" lockwood. I've moved onto a FWE styled engine. After reading a couple hours of this forum I've decided that almost everyone has problems with just jumping into this wild and crazy "mad scientist" hobby except those of you who seem to take it more se...

Larry's scaling Examples of FWE
Larry, I previously asked about scaling up a FWE design and you provided an excellent chart/diagram for me to get started. One question though; on the dimensions given could you please explain what the numbers preceded by the "L" designation refer to? are they relative diameters to the lengths given...
