I wanted it to be more advanced than a loud buzzing fuel sucking pulse jet, I can't ride a scooter like that to class.
And I can't afford 2 of these turbines to make 30lbs , they're 800$ a piece!
Damn.

Meh, too noisy and doesn't have the "WoW" factor of a real turbine
How much thrust would I need for it to be reasonably useful?

Would a 12.5lb thrust turbine be enough for a jet scooter?
I'm considering buying a tiny 12.5lb axial jet engine with hopes of mounting it on some sort of vehicle.
My first thought was a scooter, like a glorified RAZOR or such scooter. Would 12.5lbs of thrust even be enough to move such a thing with a 150lb rider at a reasonable speed?

I think the forum exploded, and many posts got sucked into a quantum singularity.

re: Small valveless
Mine was a half scale svelt lady. It would not self sustain when I was working with it earlier, however, I didn't try very many different fueling/air arrangments. My spark plug seems to have crapped out, and it's welded in  .

re: Another pocket lockwood success
I meant that I was running over 10PSI Acetylene, and didn't want to go above 15, as it can become unstable.

re: Another pocket lockwood success
Propane won't work, as far as I know. You need acetylene. I was running around 11(!) PSI into it, and couldn't get a flame out, I was more worired about the gas pressure going above 15 PSI!!!

Yes, also to clear up any confusion, this was originally Steve's design.

Wait a second, I thought that it was going to be mechanically powered, not jet-exhaust powered.

re: 'Smooth Lady' - Easiest-To-Build FWE Ever
My first FWE was kind of like this, because I couldn't weld under the sharp angle, so I just welded the sides of the pipe to the CC.

Will the old "Svelt Lady" cone sheet work for this? I fabricated a cone for that, and never got around to building the rest of it, but want to build this one.
