Carbon arc welding
I was goofing around with my stick welder and some thick carbon rods. I was able to weld some thin 22ga metal very easily with and without using a filler (I was using a normal welding stick as the filler rod), the weld had good strength and was mostly smooth and flush unlike my mig welds. Perhaps I'...

re: Proposed FWE III Sveldt Lady for Jet-Age Blacksmiths
I'm a tad confused about the intake, from what I understand so far, you cut the 1.25" pipe in half, pound the end so that it's pointing downward, and cut out a slot of the 1.25" pipe that will cover the bottom of the split pipe half smoothly. Then this whole assembly is welded over the slot? Is it e...

re: Einstein award
Similar to my "ion ray gun" which was a large cascade multiplier running about 120kV. You could literally cause sparks between any two metallic objects from more than 6' away by just pointing and spraying it at them. It was really fun to hold a thick magazine to the wall, and charge it, it would sti...

What exactly is the scale on that, last time I had to do it by trial and error and wasted about 50 sheets of paper continuously trying new scale percentages and printing it out and measuring the squares.

re: New Elektra In Town Has High-Temp Coat
I like when people put time into the asthetic value of the project, most of mine are just slapped together and run as soon as the last weld is done. I hope that paint will stand up to the temperatures though!

I had an oxy propane, but I burned a hole thru the hose... I'm thinking of getting an oxy acetylene though. Oh well, I can always do better!

re: Short Lady FWE Build!
IT RUNS! But I fked it all up while welding :(
Oh well, better luck next time.
It started on the first try, to my amazement. It has very good throttleability too, to my amazement.
I'll take some better videos later, my memory stick was full so I had to use the crappy quality.

re: Short Lady FWE Build!
Pics! The spark plug nut I made a bit more complicated than it needed to be. I took a nut with an unknown size and thread pitch, turned off the threads, tapped it for the plug, then turned the nut so that it was half it's original thickness (just so the plug would protrude a bit into the CC) and wel...

Short Lady FWE Build!
Hi guys, I decided I'd build a short lady today. I got the combustion cone and rear plate done, I'll have some pictures for you guys later tonight. I had a question about the tailpipe, I bought some "1 & 1/4" conduit" and it's really 35mm ID and I'm wondering if this is going to cause problems? Larr...
