Straight pipe & the Lady
Hi, Larry ! I used 3/16" copper tubing with the square cut off, leaving the round opening. Propane was controled by the tank valve only. I started about mid way in, than moved depper. It was always cuting off when air removed. Later I moved the opposite direction and finaly at 12 mm from the flair i...

Straight pipe
Hi Ed! Been busy, that's great. So, what's inside that straight pipe? Hi, Mike ! Good to hear from you ! Trere are some buffles inside that pipe - we all know that something must be there. It makes the engine lot more rigid and there is very limited heat distortion. Since it is incredibly loud, it ...

Another Straight
A wrong picture sent.
Here is the latest Straight II.
It runs, but not full power, I have to tweak the intake.

Straight pipe & the Lady
I am attaching some pictures of the Straight Pipe engine. It is my best running unit and most powerful for its diameter. Also super super loud ! Got to have ear plugs and aviation head set, it is unbearable. Second set is of Larry's Lady Ann. It gave me lot of trouble to set it right. It is very tou...

Larry, Thank you, it might be it, I was only about an inch deep, tomorrow I will play more with that feed tube. It run great with just little of air from 12V air pump. I will get her going ! The trouble was the noise, some off duty fireman already beat on my garage door. He thaught I was welding som...

Larry, I tested the engine today and it wouln'd sustain a run without forced air. I have got it pretty blue now from all that heat, however it quits as soon as air gets removed. Perhaps the flair is not big enough. Fuel supply is OK - Rosco jector, runs great on other engines. ( I did not make the f...

Mike ! Sorry for late response. I was in Idaho, resting. I would love to host you on my - I call it Monastery ! Right now we have the monsoon season and it rains like crazy every day. Lady Ann
Gentlemen, I was gone for a month, so I missed the ongoing conversation. Of course I will run it on propane first, than when I get bored, liquid fueling in the next - already working on such system.

Lady Ann ...
Yes, Larry, You are correct, forming the intake D shape was hard, welding was helped by spots to hold it in correct place before TIG. Probanly most difficult were the D corners to weld properly without burn through or building a big plop of metal there. The hood I formed out of paper ( your pattern ...

We don't have titles anymore
Thank you Mark and Mike. I appreciate you bringing the sweet memories of December 31, 1969, particularly the 7:00 PM events. Unforgetable indeed. Let's keep these memories alive - please do not change anything on the posting system! Mike's pictures are truly fabulous - it must also be directly relat...

Gentlemen Moderators ! What is wrong with the reply posting ? Most of the replies get stamped Dec. 31, 1969, 7:00 PM. Also the subject doesn't get displayed as it used to be, so all of them are titled "No title". I tried sending pictures in .jpg format - no luck, does it take .jpg ? I am sure you ar...

Larry's L.A.B. Rev.07 plans
Larry, Here is the completed engine I have built exactly from your drawings. All metal is 24ga SS 304, long seams and frond of the scoop are spot welded, the rest was pulsed TIG. A sleek design indeed ! Woun't be able to run it for a couple of weeks before I get out of the city. Now we have to work ...
