uhh wont thrust be directed in the direction of the rotation??
just a thought....
would have to angle the thrust in the chamber a bit if you want some forward motion....
the stators are the key....

Re: 50 mph ramjet???
The ramjet will be moving btw...
Nice idea, will require some calculation if you are proposing stators in a ramjet, but then the ramjet will not remain a ramjet... It will become something else, dunno what...

Re: 50 mph ramjet???
Good idea for a static thrust producing ramjet...
How to rotate the ramjet though??

Re: Thinking about ram-rockets
Just wondering...
Why would the rocket reach apogee while the ramjet is producing thrust?

Re: Propellant Question
Has anyone tried using a binder to bind the KNO3/Charcoal mixture? Would be easier to cast this way. Also Kn would be more predictable. I currently don't have any equipment to melt the sugar propellant. And I'm not stupid enough to try melting moderately large batches of the stuff over an open flame...

I recently made a ramjet from an aerosol can and aluminium. One of my best builds so far... Intake dia=3.75 cm, length=18.6 cm Combustion chamber dia=7 cm, length=11.5 cm Exhaust dia=4.4 cm, length=4.85 cm Runs pretty well, and there is no heating on the walls of the ramjet.(I am thinking even if th...

Good run.
And congrats on getting an engine to run properly. (with noise)
P.S. Pause the video and set the seeker on 1:32

re: Aerosol cans
Thats because it is made out of tin.Soup cans die real quick in high heat, anything that gets red will easily burn through a chunky soup can.

It would, at least, be quieter.
Less powerful explosion.

re: Calculations... double checking with the pro's
Nice run.
My ramjets also didn't got red hot, only the exhuast nozzle showed signs of getting heated(on one side) and that was because the leaf blower was not in line with the ramjet's central axis.
As a rule the ramjet's body should not get red hot.

re: New ramjet experiments
Increase the dimeter of the tail cone, the secondary flame holder might have been helping in combustion( slowing down the gases).I don't know what I want to do next... remove the baffle or cut the tail cone...any ideas???
It's just an idea, up to you to do what you want to do.
