Re: Identifying my engines

The top one is, indeed, a Doylejet Sport and the bottom appears to be an OSII in a Dyna-Jet pipe assembly. The key identifier is the weld bead.

Re: Dyna-Jet story

Hi, Guys, I've gotten myself in a pickle and don't know how to get out of it; my work on the D-J story is on hold, for now. The computer I've been using at our local library is obsolete and will no longer be supported by MS. Consequently, I bought an updated, 2013 version and had the library's compu...

Re: Frequency of a spring = reed valve

I just got into this thread and feel compelled to insert a few comments. Based on our operations at Tenney's Aeromarine Co. in the late 1940s, the resonating frequencies of pulsejet reed valves should NOT be major factors in the designing of pjs, with a few limitations. For instance, the Argus in th...

Re: Dyna-Jet story

Sorry, Guys, I*'m moving kinda slow, now, because I got a total knee replacement last January. While I feel my recovery is slow, the doctor and his associates assure me I'm getting along OK. At my age (86,) I should not expect a rapid or steady recovery. I do go to the local YMCA 3 times a week to g...

Re: After Burner Use

Nitro, I'm sure there are many ways to add an "afterburner" to pulsejets; it is possible, however, your observed increases in thrust are due to the added mass of your extra fuel as much as because of the increased heat. Indeed, many pjs show similar improvements in thrust that result from injection ...

Re: looking for 100/200 lbs PJ plans

Gettylee, Based on your pictured pj, I'm guessing that its exhaust flare is much larger than necessary for your application. In fact, it is possible your static thrust could be 25%-50% greater than as shown, if the flare were reduced to about 1-2 in. larger than the tailpipe. I say this because of t...

Re: looking for 100/200 lbs PJ plans

Gettylee, A valveless pj is much simpler, longer lasting, and more reliable than any valved design but all of them burn twice or more fuel than valved, for similar thrust. They are also slightly less noisey and easier to start. I have a Thermo-Jet J3-200 of about 3 lbs. thrust and it burns twice as ...

Re: Dyna-Jet story

Hi, People, If it's not one thing, it's something else! My 2008 Town & Country with 52,000 miles on it, threw a rod! It was out of oil and the warning lights never flashed. Oh, for the old-fashioned guages. No warranties are in effect so I'll get the honor and thrill of coming up with $2500+ so I ca...

Re: Dyna-Jet book

Tufty,
Man! You supplied a lot of information to help me and I thank you! I'm not sure I can accomplish what you recommend but I'll look into it.
FYI, I've not yet tried to insert any pictures; all my current stuff is text. My editor/publisher will handle most of it.
Thanks.

Hi, Tufty,
Thanks for your input. I'm adding more personal stuff and that adds another complication. But I'll "git 'er done!"

Re: Pulsejet on Ebay : You have to look!!!!

To Kenneth & Mark & Bruno, I'm the "guy" Don Laird was referrng to but want it known I did NOT get my investment back by selling 2 of my Globe/Solar 10P14 pjs. I sold one for exactly what I paid, to Bruce Tharpe's father. I sold the other to NASA for $1500 but they sent me $2400 out of which I gave ...

Re: Dyna-Jet book

Hi, Gang, An annoying update to my D-J book: I'm being delayed by frustrating anomalies in the "Word" program I'm using. The last 1/3 of my 100,000 words keep getting messed up by its failure to allow me to move around or correct blocks of text. They go places I don't want them. People here who are ...

Re: Dyna-Jet book

Pyrojoe & others who are interested, I expect to accept orders for my Dyna-Jet book because the publisher is not planning on selling them, himself. However, just when they will be in my hands is not clear, mostly because I'm still fiddling with some of the phraseology. The writer who is helping me h...
