Compressor Injection

Any one here ever experiment with water/methanol injection systems on small factory built turbines? I just had a call from a guy that builds jet dragsters and he suggested to try this for up to a "possible" 30% gain in dynamic thrust. Told me to start with Mass Flow per second (in lbs) divided by 25...

re: Jet Luge Update

well it's not a car-b-que like Bob Motz does with his J79 powered Kenworth, but in the spirit of things @ the Jet Wars show on the 19th in Maryland, I thought the crowd would like a little summertime satire skit before I rolled up to the christmas tree. Lawn Chairs and Wurst to the stagging lanes!!!...

re: Jet Luge Update

Larry, Yes I would consider a second luge... and plan on a twin for next year, but not a pulse jet... Dont get me wrong I think they are real cool, but after careful study I choose not to go pulse jet... and here is why. The key to a street luge being stable and fast is the low mass and low and very...

re: Jet Luge Update

Well you certainly got my attention  Although what I do may seem wild and crazy to the casual observer, I go to great lengths to make this as safe as I possibly can... and I welcome the caution or penalty flags thrown by the subject matter experts... that is why I talk about it so publicly......

re: Jet Luge Update

Funny..... I was asked to run through a wall of fire last weekend...by a bunch of pilots. You are right in the promotion of micro turbines. I have fielded many questions about the engine alone. I tell them what I know and then refer them to a few books and experts if they want to know more. I did a ...

re: Jet Luge Update

Well so far.... it is almost all out of pocket.... My original goal of drawing attention to the sport is working. This was a personal endevor and I was not looking for money. But ever since my local dragstrip experience last year, I have had "promises" of event bookings with pay and people telling m...

Jet Luge Update

Just a liittle update. I have had a little public action lately.. 2 weeks ago I opened a community parade in Munnsville, NY the day before our annual Gravity Fest Race. (gravity vehicle racing) This past weekend I did 2 exhibition runs per day on a 50x3400 ft runway at the Liberty Bell Jet Rally in ...

re: Simulated Afterburner Flame?

Ha! Complicated yes, but a really cool learning exercise, that has not cost me.... due to your experience.. I think I am actually starting to get a good grasp on the theory now. While talking to the factory tuner, trying to get him to push the engine a bit more and still keep it safe, he told me tha...

I read and re read and now I am forced to study all that your were talking about.. More research... even if this does not work... I am sure learning alot here. Once ...

re: Simulated Afterburner Flame?

PS. I have tried the injector tubes at various distances from the exhaust.. just makes more or less smoke.

Simulated Afterburner Flame?

I am still trying to simulate burner pops or to make a flame show for the Jet Luge, but still cannot get anything to light off when sprayed into the exhaust stream once the engine is at idle. First: I do not want to add an afterburner. It is not practical due to size and the amount of fuel needed an...

re: good priced turbine for model r/c plane?

I see you got the "LIST" of turbines out there from the RCU site. There are a fair amount of companies making them, but it boils down to service. Many of the top manufactuers all make good reliable turbines, with factory maintenance cycles of 25 to 50 hours and up to a one year warranty. But like al...

re: good priced turbine for model r/c plane?

They are all pretty much the same price to thrust ratio within a few hundred dollars, except for the "Jet Joe" brand which is made in China. IT is a cheap copy and can be made to work with... some mods. The best bet is to choose a turbine brand that can be maintained in your country. My JetCat cost ...
